How much money do you have??!!!
But if you can get two, get them. Even if they cost like a thousand points each, the fact that you could potentially field two virtually unstoppable tanks will freak your opponent out something frightful.

I just hope I never have to play you.

My 2 cents.
I own a Stormsword super heavy siege tank, pretty nice model and quite easy to build compared to more complex ones like the baneblades.

On the table, the Stormsword is really only used in city fights, it's a nightmare in such environment (36" AP1 ST10 titan killer, artillery blast... just aim a the biggest tyranid beetle and see it blown up, finish the job with the heavy bolters and the flamethrowers).

The Shadowsord is a very nice model, but it's pretty useless on the table, sure its Volcano cannon is n°1 Titan killer but since your oponents don't field many of these, you'll have to waste your shots on less valuable targets.

The Stormblade does quite the same job, although it hasn't got the same range it's still pretty powerfull.

The Baneblade is the best all-rounder, but it lacks the titan-killing firepower that can bring anything with 3hp or more down in one shot, even tyranid princes... the battlecanon is still pretty devastating and its impressive amount of weapons makes it "the" superheavy tank.

tbh, i had the choice between buying a Baneblade or the Death Korps infantry squads, since troops are fielded way more often than super heavies my choice went for Krieg.

There's still the question "should i buy the Mars or the Lucius pattern Baneblade?", The Mars pattern has a really advanced technological look (compared to Imperial standards) but the Lucius one has that special look that makes it different... and of course it's "my" tank ^^.

check these pics out, they show my Stormsword super heavy siege tank and a Lucius Pattern Baneblade, both unfinished, before the beginning of the Medusa V campaign, you'll be able to see both models under different angles and maybe help you choosing.

PS: do NOT mix up Stormsword (Super Heavy Siege Tank) with Stormblade (Plasma cannon Titan hunter). Stormswords are battle damaged Shadowswords repaired and field-workshop modified tanks still pretty rare on the battlefield since no Forgeworld is building them.

that where some nice pics but after hearing about that titan killer id say go for the strom sword but it just depends on what tank you think will benfit your army most on a overall scale.

Hey, if the Imperium have Titans, then why do they bother wasting Baneblade chassis on making Titan Hunters, when they can just get a Titan to hunt another Titan?

i think a storm sword would do well in my force as it has a mother of a hard hitting cannon and itle take down any big monster or warmachine in its path. i also want a bane blade as it has a whopping 11 weapons(or 12 if you add a stubber)

well think about it titans are huge hulking machines why bother even making a titan when you make a tank half the size and half the cost. plus a warhound class titan is just a scout a reaver class titan is the next size up and almost twice the size as a warhound class titan. the warlord class titans are the next size being triple that of a reaver. very big if you calculate it. then there is the massive emporer class titan x5 that of a warlord. if forge world ever mad a model for that it would be so big it couldnt fit into your house. and its foot would only fit on a huge 6m by 4m table.BIG! AS!. to think that you could stop a warlord chaos titan with 4 tanks a quater the size of it. think about it

I wasn't shooting at you... I was shooting in your general direction...

Yeah, I suppose so. They should still make the weapons sort of switchable, so each tank could be more versatile.

They could design the tank so that you could change the weapons on it, so it could go from say, a siege tank to a primarily infantry support, to a anti-armour tank.

well they could... not.

Fluff wise, these super heavy tanks have specific internal structures and technologies which are unique to their kind, thus the only way to turn a Super Heavy into another one concerns the Shadowsword-Stormsword type, Stormswords are recovered Shadowswords which got knocked out during combat and which got their complex weaponry (Volcano Canon & targeters) replaced by a huge siege gun and heavy flamers.

As for the models, if you have a closer look at each of them, the hull is bascially the same, but that's where it stops. The Baneblade hull is the most complex due to all the weapons it carries, the Stormsword is based on a Shadowsword hull (mine's one of the 1st Shadowswords which were produced by FW, i bought it on pre-release when it came out and had a lot of problems to build it since it had Shadowsword instructions in it) but still is not able to be equipped with a Shadowsword weaponry...
And anyway, if you're looking for versatile tanks which you can change everyday, have a closer look at the Leman Russ variants which are meant to do that.

BTW: DKOK, your Krieg army will probably look close to mine since i already got the Stormsword and the Krieg models are on their way since last week .
