When they have cruching claws, scything talons, tusks, toxin sacs and a.g. for ws then they can take out an entire sm tactical squad on the charge. Just think: 9 S10 attacks that ingnore armour saves...

Well I have to side with SuperSpud here. Because they are too goddamn slow to do any harm to most squads, even when they reach CC they have I 2 at most...

My tactic is to use a cheap one and use it as a bullet sponge and this is great since the one I have modelled for this purpose stands taller than my Hive Tyrant!

Yeah, CC fex's are great fire magnets, but arent much good at anything else

My crimson fists 3rd company, 750 pt army list:

HQ:
Captain (60) + bolt pistol (1) + Power sword (15) + Jump pack (20) + Iron Halo (25) -121

Elites:
Dreadnought (105)
Terminator squad - 5 Terminators (200) + Assault cannon (20) + chainfist x2 (10) (reserves) - 230

Troops:
Tactical sqaud 1 - 5 Space marines (75) +sgt pistol and cc wep (free) - 75
Tactical squad 2 - 5 Space marines (75) +sgt pistol and cc wep (free) - 75

Heavy support:
Devastator squad - 5 space marines (75) + Heavy bolter x2 (30) + Missle launcher x2 (40) - 145

Total :751 (normally just take out chainfists anyway and have frags on marines instead)

Opinions?

The Captain is too speedy, I would remove the jump pack and give him something else and stick him in one of the Tactical Squads for some "OOMPH" factor. Otherwise he'd be stuck in combat all alone and will die pretty quick.

Quite the opposite actually, his speedieness plays to an advantage as i found out today, ripped two devastator sqauds and a commandar apart single handldily, although that is a good idea stillwithout the jump pack, can give my termies furious assault then.

No point, you still strike at Initiave 1 with the majority of them. If he's working out for you, then that's great. If you wanna try to remove his jump pack, I would give him a Plasma Pistol, Meltabombs, and Purity Seals, just in case he does lose.

Basilisk: Parastic Possion, mutant hull, indirect fire, pinitle mounted combi-bolter 185pts

Troops
squad one
5 bolters, 1 heavy bolter, 1 plasma gun, a bolt pistol, & a power sword 140pts

squad two
5 bolters, 1 heavy bolter, 1 plasma gun, a bolt pistol, & a power fist 140pts

squad three
5 bolters, 1 melta gun, 1 plasma gun, 1 plasma pistol, & a chain sword 145pts

total:1,511pts

Opinions?
Too few models in my opinion. 750pts is too small of a game to have termies in my experience. if you take them out you can add another tac. squad and bring your other squads up to 6 men each(scoring math). I like your captain, i usually run one pretty similar:

Master: Pair of lightning claws, terminator honours, jump pack, teleport homer, melta bombs - 150pts

He either assaults vulnerable fire support squads or accompanies an assault squad and goes hunting. in either case he drops termies right where the enemy doesnt want them
