I see a trend, my parents are divorced too! Lasguns do have recoil!!! If a guardsmen was dramatising recoil, not only would he be the only one having recoil but there would be a lack of shiny red stuff coming out the end of the gun, ALSO a las shot does have weight, it is an object not just light. It states clearly in the Gaunts Ghost novels *written by Dan Abnett, the man, the ledgend* that Guard Snipers take wind resistance into account when setting up a shot, and since when does air move light, it doesnt shoot light! Also, when a man is shot by a lasgun, it hits him and then cauterizes the wound due to heat, causing severe problems if shot in the windpipe. How can a one shot of light, that presumably is just a high powered flick of a torch, wound and scorch and seal a wound with just light.
Admitedly a las-shot has is very hot, but its not just pure light or pure heat, you just cant store than. Its probably some plasma based shot that fires the heat using some AM magic while the plasma is put somewhere or something, because there is no emtpy shell cases for las-shots.
