yea im back!
and to make things better my parents just told he they are getting a devorce...

anyway it is shooting a laser
lasers are light

Yes... and you can actually come in hand-to-hand with moving vehicles without losing your arms or your weapons...

40K isn't for real pal!

I see a trend, my parents are divorced too! Lasguns do have recoil!!! If a guardsmen was dramatising recoil, not only would he be the only one having recoil but there would be a lack of shiny red stuff coming out the end of the gun, ALSO a las shot does have weight, it is an object not just light. It states clearly in the Gaunts Ghost novels *written by Dan Abnett, the man, the ledgend* that Guard Snipers take wind resistance into account when setting up a shot, and since when does air move light, it doesnt shoot light! Also, when a man is shot by a lasgun, it hits him and then cauterizes the wound due to heat, causing severe problems if shot in the windpipe. How can a one shot of light, that presumably is just a high powered flick of a torch, wound and scorch and seal a wound with just light.

Admitedly a las-shot has is very hot, but its not just pure light or pure heat, you just cant store than. Its probably some plasma based shot that fires the heat using some AM magic while the plasma is put somewhere or something, because there is no emtpy shell cases for las-shots.

as I've said before it's not a beam of light but a beam of laser energy. the energy needs to charge for it to work and that relase of energy is what makes to gun kick back.

I have given the answers to this before, see page 2 of this thread. Laser is light. The word laser is an acronym for light amplification by simulated emission of radiation. This means it is actually light. If you read my big page 2 post i give reasons for why it has mass and why it can be seen as a beam. With enough light, a laser could burn through. (a cd-writer works by heating a film on a cd enough in places so as to cause it to become opaque and those lasers are small.)

Im not too sure but i think the sniper rifles fire solid bullets so the IG would compensate for wind resistance.

No, Guard sniper rifles are just normal lasguns but with the capacity to fire higher powered las-shots and has a scope stuck ontop, a normal lasgun fires normal las-shots, a sniper-las fires hotshots, higher powered las-shots designed for presice headshots through helmets.

Ah rite, looks like i might've got the sniper thing wrong. Just out of interest where did you find out about this, I have codex imperial guard and the 40k rulebook and can't find it in either.

But a laser is still a laser people. (unless the laser rifle was named after someone who invented it. Dr. Laser or something)
