But if your army is reduced to 25% of the starting size at any point in time you lose. And necrons aren't much tougher than marines.Besides that,a necron has to be within 6" of another model to repair itself, and it's only on a roll of 1,2, or 3.
yeah but necron players will generally learn aftyer a few games to cluster troops together or get a ressuerction orb to get back up. plus I2 doesnt hurt that much, orks have I2 and they are a CC army. for the crons they shouldnt allow CC to happen except with the few CC units they have which are resilient enough as it is. and they can easily cut a swathe into the enemy with firepower and if CC is forced the units will be so small they generally will be able to hold on til backup (e.g. a necron lord) arrives
Erm......only 3 necron weapons that i know of have anything higher than AP5.I'm not saying necrons are insanely hard to play with, but marines cut through necrons a hell of a lot faster than crons cut through the marines. If i remember correctly, only scarab swarms and the necron lord actually have more than one wound, and if you fail the roll to revive a necron you don't get another chance,he's just flat out removed.Besides, the gauss effect really only helps against vehicles and wraithlords, because when you roll a 6 against troops all it does is automatically wound, the unit still gets it's armor save.
yeah but i still think necrns are good, go fr 3 squads of ten warriors in 2000pts and build up two lords and some destroyers and immortals around it (or a monolith but they are more for intimidation then points:effectivceness) and you can pwn marines. plus if you have a monolith and teleport mthe unit they get another get back up roll
Only three weaapons with lower than AP5 (considering they barely have any weapons anyway) isn't really that bad, only the lord and scarabs with more than one wound, are we forgetting the tomb spyders and c'tan here? And just for the sake of it the lord can have a psyclactery which (if he rolls a six) can bring him back with all three wounds. so there.

The C'tan is another HQ choice and he costs quite a bit,but i guess that's beside the point.I'm just saying that other armies generally have better weapons for dealing with heavy armor than necrons.
hey are awesome in every way. but you need eithet starcannon spam(which will make everyone hate you) or skill to pull them off as they have one task units and low armour saves
A person i once gave a lot of praise to had a very skilled set-up for his Eldar army.It was a unit of Banshees,2 reaper squads,a starcannon support platform, and a few striking scorpions. At first i thought i could mow him down before he got to me,but he used his farseer's powers like a true pro, keeping most of his banshees from dying (which i of course aimed at first) and having his reapers pound on me.I lost by a slim margin in the end, just because he managed to keep enough of the cc units alive to barely beat my squads.
