The Imperium could simply perform an extermanatus on Tau home worlds and cut the empire apart. An Empire of a Million worlds and inexhaustable armies of billions V's the young small tau empire of only few 17 systems/worlds. If He wished them clensed then it shall be so but no untill then.

alright to cloak raiders, the possibility of tau becoming possessed or tainted is absolutely nil (not even .00000000000000000000000001%) want to know why? because the tau don't have a presence in the warp. every other race, when they die, their soul or whatever goes into the warp and gets eaten by demons (that how the emporer was created, one thousand psykers commit suicide went into the warp and merged their souls, thats why the emperor is so awesome). anyways the tau pretty much do not have souls... so they can not be corrupted or possessed by slaanesh or tzeentch or whatever, there is some dispute between wether o'shovah is getting corrupted because he wields a chaos blade, but it is actually eldar

ps. it is also rumored that the tau were created ny the eldar to combat slaanesh. eg. tau plasma does not overheat and wait doesn't eldar plasma not overheat? hmmm

actuly apparently it is the c'tan/necrons who are tainting him, but he isnt following chaos, he has just branched out from the main tau ideaology, read up xenology for more info

ye the imperium would wipe the tau out but they would need 2 concentrate their efforts which they cant because then the orks/nids would attack while they were gone they may be bugs but they aint stupid

if you thank about it, if any race concentrated its efforts to try and destroy enough it would get wiped out itself - face it the galaxy is in deadlock

BTW, the Tau were almost destroyed by the imps during a campaign, but were saved by the Tyranid attack on the imperium

in the campaign they did focus and they didnt get past the first major planet!!!!
