well i think tau have no combat skills cept for an ethereal but otherwise they suck at combat and that is a major weakness, and thats y the imperium would win

no doubt, however, what is the armour svae of dark eldar? 5?, and whats the armour pen of a pulse rifle, burst cannon and bulse carbine, 5? i dunno i think its all in the dice

but do you have any idea how hard it is to kill those hive ships? if you have read the warriors of ultramar, it says that they are over three kalometers long with armor as thick as any starship, plus billions of bioships willing to block any torpedoes sent in their direction. that is all.

I agree with you there mate! Sure the tau are rather bad at fighting, but they've got enough (decent) firepower to obliterate most of the opposing army before getting into combat.

I read a white dwarf battle report long ago (few years) that pitched tau against space marines (salamanders) in a cityfight mission. you'd think the space marines would hammer the tau because the amount of cover would work against long range firefights (plus they're bad in combat)?

Wrong, the Tau absolutley wiped the floor with the space marines! massed short-range pulse carbine shooting, crisis battlesuit reinforcements and a whole bunch of angry kroot packed into a small space.

That I think anyone can agree with however anti or pro Tau they are.
Never played against Tau or Necrons. And glad of it. They both just honk a bit too much of cheese for my tastes.
