KOTOR 2 crashes after character creation+intro

I succesfully installed the game, I installed some mods with the KOTOR mod manager. Once I was done, I began the game and all was well, no lag, good graphics etc. When I finished the character creation, it started to play the cutscene, I skipped it then after 1 second I get a window saying "KOTOR 2 has stopped working" It then closes the programme, I searched everywhere but I am a tech person so I don't understand most tech talk, I ran the hardware scan and I got a greens except I got a yellow for the video one. I also have KOTOR 1 installed and that works fine. It seems to me like it can't load the "game world". Help?

I have Windows 7 XP.

I tried disapling movines, it didn't work, I tried inserting a code into the capability file under graphics (The file where you can enable cheats).

Also, when I clicked "update" I got this:

So I followed that link and manually installed the 1.0b update, I just noticed I must install 1.0a update first which I didn't, could this be the cause?

In this situation, one likely problem is Windows 7. There is such a thing as computers being too good for old games. One idea would be to download TSL Windows Vista Fix, which might (MIGHT) clear up some problems, then Run as Admin. In the end, the best option may be using a Virtual Machine, which is a program that simulates having another computer. I myself use VMware Player, onto which I put Windows XP Professional. It solved all my compatibility problems almost overnight.

What version of Windows 7 do you have? Windows 7 Ultimate comes with VirtualBox already installed, so you can use that for the XP machine simulator.

Nope, still doesn't work. Can you give me a link to anything that can sort this out? (like that Virtual Machine thing?)

It can be downloaded from here. If I remember right, you might have to sign up for an account, but that is free, and you never have to touch it again.

Looks like the first option in that downloads list is the one I am using, so that is the one I would suggest downloading and trying first.

While it downloads, do you know why the update button on the KOTOR 2 laucher doesn't work? Also, the thing about the udpdate I stated, will that cause trouble?

EDIT I downloaded it and installed it, It still crashes.

I fixed it, it was the update I did, I had to reinstall it and apply update 1.0a before applying update 1.0b. I suggest you put this in a list with the other known problems.
