Default any suggestions?

ok, im going to say it, but please read the entire thing before you just dismiss this post please

ok, im trying to run tsl on vista home premium (yea yea i know) and ive read litterally i think every forum and faq on the internet discussing this topic
ok so far here are my issues:

1. i have Kotor (the first one) and it runs completely fine, no glitches no nothing
2. when i first tried playing it would crash on me
3. tried running the update to no effect, also tried compatibility mode
4. read online that if i disabled sound it would let me play, this got me into the main menu but the game would still crash when i tried starting a new game
5. i also read that if i replaced the mss32.dll file in kotor2 with the one from kotor1 that it would work, this allowed me to get in the main menu with sound, but would still crash when trying to start a game
6. i read that i had to uninstal the game, reinstal it after giving the setup.exe file compatibility for xp and administrator rights, then change the mss32.dll after it installed like that, and this is the furthest ive gotten, i can start a new game, if i watch the auto i can actually see my character, run around and do stuff no problem, but if i try to skip an auto, load a save game, or get to a loading screen it crashes when the loading bar is almost full
7. i saw someone post that two microsoft updates might help, i think they were meant to help with games, so i downloaded those and they didnt help at all
8. ive made sure all my drivers are up to date
9. i downloaded all new windows updates and installed them

now everything ive read says everything ive done should allow me to play the game just fine, even though kotor2 is still technically "uncompatable" with vista, and other people are claiming that they are able to play it just fine

my system specs on the comp im trying to run it on are:

toshiba laptop
200gb hard drive
2gb ddr2 ram
256mb graphics card
Realtek High definition audio

any help would be great

Wow, I'm never going to Vista now, or I'll atleast keep my current computer for TSL, not giving that up! Can't they make a patch for it, like halo2 for xp patch, but tsl for vista? Then again, LA and patches never goes well...

It turns out its not vista, ive determinded its the intel graphics card inside my laptop, did that one trick with the mss32.dll file on my desktop with an ati card running vista ultimate and it works without a problem
only thing is alot of games for some reason cant do a hardware scan on your graphics card, so the game wont auto adjust the graphics for you, this isnt a big deal though, you just keep tweaking them until the game crashes, then set it back a couple settings to figure out what your card can handle
