The battle of Malachor V was approximately 7 years before TSL.
TSL takes place five years after KOTOR, the events of which take place about two and a half years after the end of the Mandalorian war.

Nihilus being "born" with the aftermath of the battle, is just a way of saying that whomever he was before, was destroyed. From the ashes of that life, Darth Nihilus was born.

Just like the "death of Anakin Skywalker" was the birth of Darth Vader.

I don't think there's anyway Mira is older than Nihlus. I agree with the whole: death-of-the-person-he-was-before, birth-of-Nihlus.
I don't think her father is Nihlus or Sion. I just don't. And can't people be Force Sensative without their parents being a Force Sensative, too?:confused:

I should note that Mr Avellone's comments are very vague, so vague that several theories have formed--everything from Nihlilus is a manifestation of the Exile's connection to the Force, to Nihilus is Zayne Carrick, to Nihilus is Revan. Personally, I like to think the first one, because of the Exile's reaction to Nihilus' mask.

Wow, so many interesting things floating around. I never thought of Nihilus as a somewhat obscure manifestation of The Exile, but it sure ties a lot of details. Kudos on that approach!! It would discard the whole Zayne Carrick-Nihilus idea, which seems quite ridiculous at this point, and it would also explain the clear similarities between the characters. To tell the truth, this is the best proposal I have read on the subject, though it raises a scary subject: If Nihilus is a dark aspect of The Exile, does it mean he/she has the Sith Lord's tremendous power at his/her disposal, at any given time, and also, does it mean Nihilus' vast knowledge resides somewhere inside The Exile, perhaps in the sub-conscious?

My, my, if Nihilus is a male, human expresion of dark ego, does this mean Kreia's "greatest apprentice" is, in fact, the Exile?

On the other hand, it has been clearly stated Mandalore, Carth, Revan and the like are not prime candidates to being Mira's father, for they do not fit in the known criteria. I still think one of the Sith Lords could fit the bill, for they have all characteristics, including presence and relation to the events in Mira's life. The only other possible explanation is she is the daughter of an obscure, non-appearing, character only known by Kreia.
