Unresponsive Bastila and Carth

I downloaded this mod Bastila on Korriban, Knights of the Old Republic 2 Downloads, Knights of the Old Republic 2 Restored Content to restore Bastila on Korriban.


It's worked great until I come into the tomb of Ajunta Pall. After blowing up the obelisk and destroying the assault droids, Bastila and Carth suddenly stopped moving. They stopped talking, too.


They no longer follow me, and when I click on them, they don't respond. They just frown, then ignore me. If I select them, I can move them about, and if I click on my own character, they will talk as normal.


Other party members respond and follow as normal, and I've tried going to other planets, but to no avail. I went to a new planet and received the vision, and there was no typical "I had the vision thing" conversation with Bastila---it just skipped right past it. I tried using the trigger of meeting Bastila's mother, but she's still unresponsive.


I tried removing the above said mod, but it did not take due to the saved game.


Carth and Bastila still respond and talk to me in other saved games.

It seems that the party member glitch (unresponsive characters) is quite common, especially on Korriban. Have you tried to see if the same thing occurs without the modification? If it does, it's merely the party member glitch that also happens to other members frequently. I don't think there's a solution yet, beside reloading your save or restarting your game.

I don't have any other saves going back to that point, nor any other games that come close to it. I've reloaded the game multiple times and it still sticks. All the other save games from earlier games do not have the issue.


Potential Solution: Is it possible to kill both Carth and Bastila towards the end of the game?

It is possible to kill Bastila at the near-end, yes. You can also kill Carth, which involves quite a lot of dialog that should be done, if you are to stab him. Make sure you're a light-sided female character who helped Carth with his son, Dustil. Try to talk to Carth as much as possible. You should be able to stab him (not a real fight, though) at the Unknown Regions.

There's truly nothing I can do to fix this error?

And what do you mean by "stab him"? I thought I could either stay light and kill Bastila, or stay dark and let Carth run away on Rakata Builder planet

You mistook my statement, I think. In order to keep Dustil alive and help Carth, you'll have to perform light-sided actions. Then, tell Bastila that you support her (at the temple in the Unknown Regions). Kill Juhani and Jolee and meet up with Carth. Then, you should have the option to kill Carth.
