This is a KOTOR related problem, not TSL. The problem persists everywhere throughout the game, I've been on three planets (and endar spire) so far, and it's the same no matter where I go.

That's strange. My sys specs are nowhere near yours (P4 2.66, 1GB dual channel DDR2, 8600GT 512MB PCI-E 16x) yet I can run both KOTOR's at max settings with no problems. Hell I even bump the settings up a little in the NVIDIA control panel.

It turns out that after installing the second game, the case is the same. Performance is OK in general, and unplayable when the soft shadows are enabled. A curious case indeed.

As said, it's probably because your computer is "too good". Same as CrimsonJedi; my desktop can run KotOR and KotORII perfectly fine, with the following specifications: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405, 1 GB RAM, Windows XP Home Premium... and the model, I do not recall, as my desktop does not work anymore.
