I got myself a new computer a couple of weeks ago, and I recently installed Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. The game installed fine, and it runs fine, but periodically, after a battle, I can't move my character forwards or backwards. I tried remapping the keys, but I still get the same problem. If anyone has a solution for this problem I would be grateful. My specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8ghz
4 GIGS of DDR3 PC1333 RAM
NVIDIA GeFORCE 9400GT 1 GIG PCI Express.
320 GIG Harddrive
RealTek High Definition Audio onboard sound
Windows XP Service Pack 2
Did you enable the option in the menu which causes your character to be unable to move while battling? If so, disable that and see if it fixes the problem. If it doesn't, do you use any conflicting mods of some sort?
However, it could be that your new computer's specs are "too high" in order to display certain animations. But that doesn't have to be the case of course.
If that's not the case, I can't see what's wrong. Last option I'd recommend is reinstalling once again.
No, that doesn't work I was already allowed to move during combat. As for my computer specs being TOO high? I really don't buy that at all. I don't use any mods for KotoR. I emailed Lucasarts tech support, so I may hear something by Monday or Tuesday. And yes, I reinstalled it.
So, I get no real solution to my problem? That's just f**king great. I got a stupid canned response from Lucasarts saying that my videocard isn't supported, which is not the freakin' issue!
I too am having the same problem!! The exact same problem!
I also contacted lucas arts and their response was:
"Your NVIDIA Geforce 8800 card is too new to have been tested with Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic so we cannot support it's operation on that card"
The same problem occurs on KOTOR2 which is an even bigger bummer..
Anyone know what can be done to fix the issue?
KOTOR, even though it's six years old, is still surprisingly difficult to run sometimes. No video card should be too new for it.
I used to have that problem a lot on my old computer. I'd have to switch party members a lot. If that didn't work, I saved my game, left, and restarted.

You shouldn't have to do that though. I tried getting help from LucasArts about the issue, but they won't even address it simply because my video card isn't officially supported by the game. That's not even the issue! So, you can't rely on LucasArts for ANY help of any sort, as I've learned. They treat customers like s**t.
Update: It seems that my problem was only on the Endar Spire, because when I get into fights on Taris, I don't seem to have a problem. On the Spire, I just used my mouse to point and click my way to the end, so I think there was a glitch on the Endar Spire. I'll update if it happens again, later in the game.

That worked for me too. However It is still occasionally happening. Especially after i win a duel in the cantina... it just does not let me move...
Surely Lucas Arts would have a solution...
That's because LucasArts is a gaming company. A gaming company is a business. The people that work there are there to give you small bits of advice and if it doesn't work, they just give you a pat in the back. It's not just LucasArts. Every other company would do the same thing.

You would think, but if you're video card isn't officially supported, they won't help you. Which is piss-poor customer service.
