Not really. The game was released about half a decade ago. For a game, that's a pretty long time ago. Since they don't make much money from this game anymore and considering they're a large business, it's just not financially responsible for them to continually update and support this game indefinitely.

Anyway, I doubt it's a video card issue. It sounds more like an input issue. Did you update the game to the newest version? Are you using a normal keyboard, or one that can store macros? Have you tried updating DirectX?

These are my specs (for my laptop), and I've been running with fairly high settings perfectly up to Manaan:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.2 GHz per core
Video Card: GeForce 9500 512 Dedicated Card
RAM: 4 GB
Sound: Something from Realtek. Also has an integrated Dolby surround speaker, which is fun.
OS: Vista

So far, my only problem was that KotOR's Securom version was incompatible with Vista, so after plugging in a nocd crack, it works fine.

Last comment: could you post the contents of your swkotor.ini file, please?

I'm using a multimedia keyboard. Honestly, right now, all I have to do is switch to another character for a while, now that I'm at a point in the game where I can two party members, so it's really not as much of an issue anymore, but it still happens from time to time. Anyhoo, if anyone has a solution:

I too am having no problems anymore, just keep switching the character when one freezes.
I'm curious to whether I will have to keep loading the game in KOTOR2 as you only have one party member until telos........

I have had this problem all the time too, but...

This doesn't fix the problem in long term, but it solves it for the moment. Everytime I get stuck I quick save and then reload. That releases my char and I can move again, another thing you can do is select another char of your party and walk with him/her/it until you zone or after a movie sequnce. It's annoying, but atleast it's better than not playing the game at all...

I found a thread on the Gamespot forums where this problem is addressed. The proposed solution is to enable V-Sync under graphical options.
I realize it's not the same game but the engine is, so at least it's worth a try. I have tried it and it seems to solve the problem, hope it works for you too.
