Ok, I've had JKA forever and it always worked fine before. I've recently re-installed it for some nostalgia and it was working for a while...now only multi-player works. If I try to run the single player version It comes up I make a character and start the campaign, as soon as the first cut scene begins to run the "issue" shows up. Everything works fine, sound, animations and all that stuff...there is just a giant green something (looks like if you were to take a JKA map and make it grassy with hills on all sides but put nothing in it) that fills up the cut scene. Once the first level loads the green thing is still there and it makes seeing around very impossible (the game still runs perfectly, you just cant see most of the screen, unless you manage to look at weird angles and sometimes the green thing disappears but only for as long as your looking at that angle). The green thing moves with the character, but doesn't move with the view pan. I have tried deleting everything from the base and game data folders and reinstalling twice...nothing gets rid of it. This doesn't show up in multiplayer at all...please help.
P.s. I can post a screen capture of this or if needed speak with you via msn/X-fire

How interesting. Perhaps you should check if your DirectX re-distributable package is up to date.
This game requires DirectX 9.0c I believe. Even if you have DirectX 10 with Vista/Windows 7, try installing the DirectX 9.0c package as-well
Also check your graphics card drivers.
I took a screen shot to show you, it's not a graphical error like missing textures or anything...the green object looks like it's supposed to be in the game just not the way it's being displayed. (I have DirectX 9.0c and the latest drivers for my card installed)
This is from the opening cut scene where Luke is responding from the temple. Like I said before it's ONLY in single player mode, so it can't be a hardware issue otherwise it would screw up multi player as well.

There's one I've never seen before.
Few questions...
Which operating system are you using? If Vista/7, are you running jasp.exe as administrator? And have you tried Win XP compatibility mode?
Have you patched the game?
Are you using the Steam version of JKA?
In your base folders, are these filenames & sizes correct...?
Assets0.pk3 548.639 kB
Assets1.pk3 637.505 kB
Assets2.pk3 1.091 kB
Assets3.pk3 9.065 kB
Note: You might miss one if you haven't patched, don't panic if so :P
Also, does it happen regardless of how high or low you set your graphic settings ingame?
I have the CDs but they are scrached to badly, so I installed using iso like files of the CDs along with a NO-CD crack to play it.
Yes I have all the Assets pk3 files
If I turn the graphics all the way up I can't really see the characters when making a character and in the cut scene all the people are invisible.
At the normal and low settings you get the image in the screen shot.
P.S. I installed the single player conversion mod Star Wars Saber Duels 2 last night and I can play that with no issues (as well as multi player) it's only showing up in the original game single player levels. I'd really love to be able to replay the origonal levels though. :<
This looks like a rendering primitive issue. Run the game, open the console and try experimenting with different primitives values. So, type this:
r_primitives 0
r_primitives 1
r_primitives 2
r_primitives 3
Try them one by one (confirm each command with Enter, ofcourse), but don't go over 3 if you don't want to lose the whole view.
I'm not too happy with the fact you're using a NO-CD crack, though. We have a policy not to help people who use illegal and/or cracked copies of the game. But, since you own a legal copy of the game (too bad about the scratched CDs), I think we can turn a blind eye here.
Thank you so much Tri, your suggestion worked like a charm!
P.s. Yea I wish I didn't have to use CD images and a crack to play the game, it would have saved me a lot of time and grief... someone invent more durable CDs please!

You are very welcome.

You can buy all Dark Forces / Jedi Knight games on Steam. They are very cheap.
