Reinstalling Errors :( Hey all... After a 2 year brake, I decided to start playing JKA again, but, when I try to install it again, it won't let me. I go on to My Computer and click on the JKA logo and it says Runtime Error. So, when I try to UNINSTALL it from the control panel Add or Remove Programs, it says theres no Support File. Please, please, please can someone help me? :( -Burcol |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( Let me see if I got this right. You are trying to install the game which is already installed? Do you have legal or pirated copy of the game? Did you manually remove some file(s)? |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( Yes, my game is a legal copy. It's already installed, but when I play the game in this message comes up: Guru meditation failure! Assertion Failed: "LecSetup_GetSetup(g_Env["DataDir"],&m_PlecSetup)"! File: Sourch/lfx_System.cpp Line: 231 Abnormal Termionation. Select Eetry fort an environment dump. Then there are 2 options, Retry or Cancel. When I click on Retry, nothing happens. I have no idea whatthis "LecSetup" file is... meaby I need to downlaod it from somewhere? So, I thoguht if I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, it would work. But when I go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Porgrams and click on Remove, this message comes up: (The InstallShield Wizard comes up for a second, then this comes up:" An installation support file could not be installed. The system cannon find the file specified. Again, do I need to install a support file? :( Please help :) i'm a noob at I.T. -Burcol |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( Take a look at this thread and see if you can find something helpfull. http://forums.filefront.com/sw-jk3-p...ed-up-bad.html In the meantime, I`ll keep looking. I remember an old thread here about that Guru meditation failure thing. I`ll try to find it. EDIT: Eureka! http://forums.filefront.com/sw-jk3-p...n-failure.html |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( Obviously the Raven programmers have some weird sense of humour. |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( I've been told to go to Start, Run and type in REGDIT. I've doe that then this black screen comes on. When I click + this message comes up: 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem C:\WINDOWS/system32/REGEDIT.com The NTVDM CPU had encountered an illegal (wtf) instruction. CS:0f38 I[:8edb OP:0f 0a 01 38 0f Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. Close Ignoe Help anyone? Thanks :) |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( REGEDIT, not REGDIT. I assume it`s just a typo. So, you`re saying that you can`t get to this: Spoiler: |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( I've typed that, but a black field comes up and when I click +, nothing happens. |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( Could you please take a screenshot of your Registry and post it here like I did? Maybe I`ll know more if I see it with my own eyes. |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( I'll get a pic uploaded later, internet is failing in my area :( |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( 1 Attachment(s) |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( Strange. That shouldn`t be happening. Go to your "Windows" folder, look for "regedit.exe" file and try running Registry editor from there. I took a screenshot of my "Windows" folder and marked it with blue square to help you look. Spoiler: |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( Ok, I had to click on Search to find it. IT WORKED!... But... lol...... When the menu comes up to Install, this message comes up (I have a bad fealing about this...) D:/Install/../GameData/Setup.exe Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcess Memory request was completed. Then the "OK" button comes up. When I click it it just keeps repeting the message. I think if we can get this sorted, JKA will work again! EDIT: Oh. another message comes up after I click ok: Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy A requiredfile is missing or corrupted! Please reinstall Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy to fix this problem. But, I can't install it or uninstall it atm -_- |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( I assume you cleaned your Registry. But, you also have to manually delete all Jedi Academy files and folders. That does not include your custom stuff (skins, models, maps, etc.); only what game originally installed. Move your custom stuff somewhere safe. Now, go to your "LucasArts" folder and delete all traces of Jedi Academy from there. If you have some other LucasArts game installed in there, leave "LucasArts" folder intact. If not, delete it too. Reboot your computer and try installing again. |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( Thanks soooooooo much, just got my internet back on so now I can go online with JKA too! :D Thanks for all your help. JKA works perfectly now! Thanks! :D |
Re: Reinstalling Errors :( You are welcome. :don: Glad I helped. This thread will be usefull as reference. |
