dedicated server constatly crashes
 

Since the clan i am in lost our server i have tried to set up a new server on an old server i have at home as a temporary measure.

Im running a dedicated clan mod server on a dell poweredge 1400sc with a 3.2gb prossesor and 1gb of ram running over a wireless connection to a 4mb broadband connection. I have installed the latest jampded.exe and the latest version of clan mod.

It starts fine and people can connect to it with no problems.

The problem i have is that there are certain things that cause it to crash bringing up a generic windows "this program has encountered an error and needs to close" error message. When i check the logs there dosent appear to be any error messages, the server just seems to stop.

I have tried running the server under ja+ and with no mods at all however the symptoms persist.

Things which i have found crash the server are:

Hitting anyone with a lightsaber.
Spawning 3 or 4 npcs at once.
Using certain guns.
occasionally it will crash out of the blue as it were.

However things ive found dont crash the server are:

Using force powers
spawning fire
using slap/empower/demigod/teleport commands

As i get no error messages i am having difficulty diagnosing the problem.
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what could be causing this as being unable to attack each outher tends to make games a tad boring :).

Have you tried reinstalling the assets files from the CD? (Assets0.pk3 - assets3.pk3)

Also make sure you are using the latest patch for the game.

Already is using v1.01, I assume, from the fact that ClanMod works at all.

Could be that you only have 1GB of ram.

Minimum system requirements for JK3 are 128mb of RAM. I don't think that's his problem.

Well, i was hosting a server with 1GB of ram, and the server was really laggy. Upgraded to 2GB and it stopped.

That's why you're not supposed to host servers from standard computers. Or machines that are simultaneously being used for other stuff.

Could be that hes got too much background stuff up then.

I'm not sure it's that simple, really, not running from an actual system with proper server architecture installed.

Without more information on the server itself, though, I'm at a loss as far as diagnostics are concerned.

I'll poke around, though, and drop back in if I find anything.

thanks for the replys guys. I still have not solved the problem however i shall persevere!

I suspect the best thing to do would be to use linux on the server instead of windows server 2003.

Its odd, i have no lag, i can have quite a few people on the server all running around without any problems its just as soon as someone tries to fight it all goes horribly wrong. Its only a temporary measure however so im not to worried.
