JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

Ever since I had reinstalled JA+ 2.3, my comuter crashes after 2 minutes of playing the mod on a server.

How do I fix it?

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

What mod are the server using? I had Japlus 2.3 and when i play on a server it crashed like a minute or 2 later. I found out the server was using japlus 2.4 beta version and i downloaded japlus 2.4 beta and went back to that server and it never crashed again.

Plus do u have a lot of models going? If u do it can also cause ur game to crash.

Out of interest are you using Xfire ingame for ja+ , if you are that could be your problem, most ja+ uses cant run xfire whilst in game , as it will crash within a min or so.

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

I am not using JA+ with XFire. I have an Xfire account but I havn't used Xfire in months.

According to the server admin, its running JA+2.3

I only have the files on the required files list.

My game doesnt crash after 2 minutes. My whole computer does. As in, it just shuts down after 2 minutes using JA+. If I dont use JA+, then the computer never crashes. But JA+ is required for the server I am trying to play on.

It's not required, it justs recommended to play all the features.

Uhh. This could be a few things. First of all, make sure its JA+. Does this happen ANY other time?

So if you play JA, just without JA+, its fine?

Ok, then we can suspect that its JA+ and not just JA. Where did you download it from? The offical website, or another mirror?

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

I got it from jk2files.com

The official JA+ site has been dead for 2 years.

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

You don't need the JA+ files to play on JA+ servers. You won't be able to use RGB sabers and won't see the menu for grapple (though you can bidn it to a key, it's +button12).

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

I hope you solved your problem by now but if you haven`t here are some suggestions from me.

Are you using JA+ in combination with some other mod? If you do , DON`T!!!

Do you have too many .pk3 files in your gamedata / base folder? Remove all those you added yourself.

Try reinstalling the game again. This time don`t put any custom made .pk3 files , mods , etc. except JA+.

Still crashing? Try formatting the hard drive and reinstalling OS. I know It`s a drastic move , but if it helps...
Make sure you have the newest drivers versions for your hardware.

Working now? No? Well , it is possible that you have a problem with some hardware component that shows up only when you play online with JA+. Does your computer just reboots or completely shuts down? Maybe you should have someone qualified check it up for you.

Oh , one more thing. Is your copy of the game legal? Illegal copies are known to cause various problems. Specially when trying to play online.

Well , so much from me. Hope I helped. Bye. :saber:

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

I sorted the problem. It turned out that when I copied the game from my C drive to my D drive because it has more room on the D drive and I didnt want to waste time reinstalling the game, it seems I forgot to delete the original from the C drive. Therefore, my PC got confused as to which one was the one being used as it only installs the game once on a PC. I actually feel rather n00bish now because I had this problem before months ago. Kouen helped me through it (Kouen, helped?!?). I must have done the same thing again after the first time (installing on one drive and copying to another without deleting the original) and forgotten all about it.

Basic summary: I didnt 100% think things through :p

PS: My game is 100% legit. Screenshots of box, discs, manual, barcode avaliable on request if nessecery.

If I was really a n00b, and my game wasn't legit, I would be on here b***ching about a CL_Parse type error. But then again, I guess it would take an actual n00b (you) to post a reply like the one you made before this one. Therefore implying, that you don't know half as much as you claim.

Haha, LOL, You got Pwned!

...Actually, n00b, CL_ParselPacketEntit(y/e?) is a sign that your stuff isn't legit...I should know, I used a crap CD crack for a near 6 months before I found a real one.

You people can't tell the difference between when someone's being serious and when they're being hypothetical, huh?

Oh, and on the subject of cracks... Nice work, you just installed a trojan and/or worm in your computer that can get by your firewall and antivirus software, because the filename of the .exe has already been cleared by your firewall!

I bet some haxor kiddy is sat on his ass right about now, rifling through people's passwords and personal data while snickering and arrogantly exclaiming "Suckers!".

Bottom like is, there's no such thing as a cle- *ahem* REPHRASE there's no such thing as a non-malware hacked exe.

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

Bottom line. My game is legit.

Oh and Genome, try reading the post properly. It clearly states the the CL_Parse thing was a 'hypothetical situation'. ('Hypothetical' to big a word for you? Heres a simplified explanation, 'to create a situation that has not happened but could happen if you were a noob like Genome is'). My game is 100% legit. If it wasn't, I wouldnt even be able to play on the server I play on in the first place.

Too complicated for you. Let me simplify it for you.

Me: Using 100% legal copy of the game (problem with JA+ plus fixed, see previous page. Kouen helped me out before when I had this problem so that reminded me. Thanks Kou)

Genome: Using cracked game, openly admitting it on a public forum and reiterating my point that n00bs have no clue what they are talking about whatsoever.

Rant over. Problem fixed. I dont know how Kouen, Inryi or Averus puts up with n00bs everyday.

Thanks to everyone on page 1 who genuinly tried to help. Rep is on its way to you.

-=AR=- -=Shådé=- and Genome to receive nega-feedback.

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

Frustration time

I am starting to think JA+ is definatly at fault here. I completely removed all traces of Jedi Academy from my computer (including registery keys, and the redundant original install the the one on D drive was copied from). Reinstalled from the 2 CDs straight into my D drive this time. Installed all my maps and other mods back in. No compatibility issues between maps.

Left the game idle while I went and watch a random CSI episode. Came back 45 minutes later and the game was still up and running fine.

After that, I reinstalled JA+ into the game, loaded it up with a map from my install, left it for another 45 minutes while watching an old SG-1 episode. Came back afterwards, and the computer had crashed in the same manner as described on the first page.

Leaves me to conclude 2 things:
1. I am installing JA+ 2.3 wrong somehow
or
2. JA+ is just plain broken

The map was run solo. I was not on my desired server.

I'm assuming this is one of those "Of course I did!" questions, but having just returned from an office Christmas party (and yes, cider can have negative side effects), I must ask, for the sake of being thorough and eliminating any and all possible causes of errors if nothing else....

You did upgrade to patch version 1.01, yes?

Re: JA+ Almost Killed My PC Several Times

I only have one copy of JA Installed on C: Drive. I don't get the CL_Parsepackets error. I get the microsoft box that says: This program has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.

That happens whenever I try to load my own multiplayer match or after about 30 minutes or so of joining a server randomly. I don't get it in sp thankfully. and I went and installed the latest version of JA+, the beta 2.3
