Seen this problem on another board.

If your using Windows Vista do this:

First Option:
---
Run in Windows XP compatibility mode (I tried this a while ago, and it worked).
1) Right click on the Tremulous application or shortcut.
2) Select properties from the menu.
3) Click the compatibility tab.
4) In the group Compatibility Mode, check the checkbox and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the list.
5) It also wouldn't hurt to check "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition" (although I don't think you'd get or want Aero with an older card).

Second option play about with this setting in console:

r_gamma "2" - This is the master command that adjusts the brightness level of everything in the entire game. All splash screens and menus, along with the actual game play is affected. The default value is 1, but you should usually make this higher, depending on the brightness of your monitor
