You have to open your Entity - Window (N button). Then select the worldspawn in the upper window. Now type music into the key window and set a valid music file (mp3 or wav) starting from your Base directory (including the extension) as value for the key. Press enter and be happy.

Greetings

ok, um, not to sound like a noob, but do i have to create a new bsp file?
it takes about an hour to bsp, and i keep getting an error at the end.
is there just some way i can put in the .pk3 file and have it play

the error i get is
"--- SetupTraceNodes ---
************ ERROR ************
MAX_TW_VERTS (12) exceeded"
it comes right after it counts (1... 2... 3... 4... .....)

You have a brush, that intersects too many other brushes. Try to delete it or divide it to smaller brushes.
