Default Using Soundtrack music in my map?

Hi everyone!

I have a question.
I want to use music from a film soundtrack as background music in my map. I own the original soundtrack cd, but I don't know whether I may use it in my map.
Are there any legal issues to be considered oris this compleatly forbidden?

Greetings

When in doubt, read the copyright information supplied with the soundtrack, and any other disclaimers regarding usage.

If you're still not sure, contact whoever holds the copyrights and ask about it.

Thanks, I'll do it.

I have downloaded a map named "Helms Deep" and in this map is a song from the Lord of the Rings - Soundtrack. Therefor I ask. I'm the builder of "Battle on Mustafar" and I'm still working on a v2 and would like to have a song from Episode III in my map.
Isn't it the same thing like Helms Deep?

Greetings

That's probably not legal, but usually no one will do anything about it. Duel music, on the other hand, is a touchy issue, because most people just download it to rip the music out of it rather than use it for the game.

You're probably safe using Episode III music. The worst that can happen is LucasArts can have a hissy fit over it.

Won't people just be able to rip music out of a map in the same way?

Well, you could try pk3 encryption, but having not tried it myself, I can't say how safe it would make the pk3.

I found out, that it's legal to use music from the Soundtracks in maps. So I can release my map on Chrismas day.
I hope you'll enjoy it.
