Skinning issue, saber won't show

I've just finished making a skin of HapSlash's Anakin model and, after compiling the skinfile that makes the model appear as it is, I've tested it in multiplayer and it works perfectly.
On the other hand, after giving it an npc test run in single player, I get an issue I can't quite solve. The problem is that whichever saber I use with this skin, the blade won't show whatsoever.

It's also notable that the saber works okay with other models, and that the model won't display the blade of *any* saber I use with it. In multiplayer, on the other hand it's just as I said - works fine.

Here is the .skin file I'm using with the model. I can't seem to figure out why, but I have suspicions it might be due to that file. Assistance is appreciated.

Did the saber work with the original Anakin model? If so, then it's definitely the .skin file.

I've even tried copying and tweaking the original hs_anakin_e2 skin so that they apply my textures, but no luck so far. I'd fix the problem if I knew how to figure out what it was, but so far testing has produced no results.

This should fix it. Do this with the line r_hand:

r_hand,off

:)

Re: Skinning issue, saber won't show

Question: Did you try giving the NPC a default hilt and testing the results?

I ask this because there may be a chance you're simply using a saber without a sabercolor clause in the .sab file. Where Multiplayer'll assign a random saber color to the NPC's hilt, I reckon Singleplayer is not so forgiving in that respect.

P.S. - Forceboat, what's your logic behind the .skin alteration? I'm pretty sure *off is just a formal way of screwing up the line so the part doesn't show.

Re: Skinning issue, saber won't show

Hmm, the saber I assigned has a default saber color - blue. And I did test it with default sabers, didn't work.

I'll try offing one part in favor for another part. Stay tuned.

I think I've got it figured out. The default anakin model has two right hand types

r_hand and r_althand

The first is the default "gloved" hand which has its texture, while the second one is a gloveless variant. What's ultimately weird is, the default anakin_e2 skin has the exact same parameters (r_Hand disabled and r_althand enabled) as my model, only this time the saber DOES show. Curious.

What I'm gonna do now is enable both the meshes in the .skin file and assign one (the gloved model) to a fully transparent .tga texture and hope for the best.

The reason I had specifically said put it as r_hand,off is because I had the same problem when using the normal, ungloved right arm for the Episode 2 Anakin model variant; it wasn't set up properly when Hapslash/Infinity Blade packed up the model set for the release. If it reads r_hand,*off, it won't show a lightsaber blade. It has to be r_hand,off for it to work. Trust me, I am 100% sure of this.

Here, I decided to post up the .skin file that the Episode 2 Anakin variant I use uses. My apologies for having to attach it as a text file, it wouldn't take it any other way, just save it as a .skin file.

Your help is appreciated, and the alpha map trick did work. Eats up a bit more bandwith, but at least it's done :) Thanks for the template though, I'll put it to good use.

Re: Skinning issue, saber won't show

Hey Guys,

sounds like it could match my problem so I post my question here too. ;)

However I still could use your advice...
I'm using Tyrael64's "Jeon Vreek" Model&Skin in SP. Everything works fine except one little detail: if I want to use two lightsabers he only ignites the "main" saber (right hand) and keeps the second saber only standby. And for the quickwittet: No I'm not using the blue stance. The stance and fighting animations however where like if you would fight with two sabers but as I said only the "main" saber is on.

And I have absolutely no idea how that can be fixed.
I hope you guys can help me.

Thx in advance and greetings.

P.S.: I reckogned that problem on the SithCustomization (or was it the JediCustomization) too.

P.P.S.: Maybe I'm to stupif but I can't get that .txt file Forceboat postet shown or loaded... any ideas? ;)
