Rosh to JKO

Hey can anyone convert the Rosh model from JKA to JKO? I can't do it cause I don't have JKA and besides that I know nothing about the models.

You mean jk3 models in jk2, right? I mean, that's what's being asked for here...

That will absolutely not work. Going from JK2 -> JK3 is not the same as going from JK3 -> JK2.

^It may work, I found out that the base models are rigged to the same skeleton as JO uses its just the gla file for JA doesn't include the bones that JO has but the model itself has them.

just get the game from e-bay or something it wnt cost much money
it's a old game
I'fe paid about 6 € for my JKA on E-bay so forget the torrent :
A. it's illegal
B. getting the game from E-bay might be the faster way

The skeletons are different. This doesn't pose a problem with JO-JA transfers, but it does with JA-JO transfers. This is why the model will look like what Ryojin posted. When I say something will absolutely not work it's because I know for sure (usually because I've tried it).

I remember someone saying that the model has to be "reweighed". Does anyone know what that means?

Spoiler:
About Envelopes

An envelope is an object or hierarchy that is assigned as a “skin” to a set of deformers such as IK chains. Envelopes move and deform in response to the movements of their deformers. In this way, for example, a character moves as you animate its skeleton.
Every point in an envelope is assigned to one or more deformers. For each point, weights control the relative influence of its deformers.
The process of setting up an envelope is sometimes called skinning or boning.

Meh I thought it would work but I guess not.

Reweighting the model with the old JK2 skeleton is the only way it will work in JK2.

Ok, now I don't wanna sound lazy, but I can't do the conversion myself, for a number of reasons. Does anyone wanna do it for me?

(It'd probably be a big hit if you released it on JKfiles... ;))

Ryojin October 27th, 2009 06:12 PM

Re: Rosh to JKO

Why can't you do it yourself?

Ty294 October 28th, 2009 07:18 AM

Re: Rosh to JKO

#1. Don't have the time, I've got one mod to finish, a story on Star Wars Fanon to finish and lots of RL projects. #2. I don't have the Rosh model, so some one would have to give me that anyway. #3. Alot of mod tools don't work on my computer. I have a 64-bit system (while nearly all other comps have 32-bit) and my Battlefront tools don't work and most of my JK tools don't either. I can do skinning and such but no mapping.

Edit:
Sorry to double-post, but if nobody is gonna do it can someone at least pakage up the Rosh model (sounds an shaders too) in a zip so I can try myself?

Edit:
Ok, I don't want to bump it any more so this will be the last time. Now, can someone just upload a zip with the Rosh model and sounds? I'll do the converting.

Re: Rosh to JKO

LucasArts has made it pretty clear they don't approve of sound porting between the two games.

General Jaxun October 31st, 2009 05:24 PM

Re: Rosh to JKO

Which is all kinds of stupid, because THEY did it.

Inyri Forge October 31st, 2009 05:27 PM

Re: Rosh to JKO

They own the rights to the sounds. They can do whatever they want with them. You don't own the rights to anything. You can only do what they let you. See the difference?

Ty294 October 31st, 2009 07:34 PM

Re: Rosh to JKO

I've seen sounds and models ported between games. For example: In the Star Wars Battlefront series, modders have ported all sorts of models and have even done conversions from one game to the other. I've seen mods that ports sound effects from Republic Command to Battlefront1 and JK2 as well. Now, Battlefront and RC are both done by pandemic, whist JK2 is done by Raven, but transfers from JK3 to JK2 should cause a problem since they (and I'm just assuming) are both Raven.

Inyri Forge October 31st, 2009 07:35 PM

Re: Rosh to JKO

The LucasArts legal affairs department has specifically told us that porting sounds between the two games is off-limits. They don't care about maps or models, however.

I loved that second video, especially the line 'some day you're gonna have to teach me how to do that'. And from 3:24 to 3:30, Desann's jaw movements are soooo funny! Also, at 2:55, it looks like his heart beating.
