Default Anyone up for a little JA hack and slash?

Hey. So basically I've been going through mods on JA and need some help getting started with some ideas, questions, etc. so I thought I'd just smash 'em all into one thread.

1) I know JA+ has a feature that lets you scale the size of models, but has anyone made a mod to make this possible in base JA? If not, how would it go about being done?

2) I wanted to make my own little saber mod, but never had any luck doing so. I was wondering if someone could walk me through how to edit the saber blades? I want to edit the size and shape, as well as the trail. In case you're curious I'm going for something similar to these, almost a combo of the two with some original stuff too.

Jedi Knight Files - Screenshots for File: The Force Unleashed (TFUUSE) Lightsaber Blades v3
Jedi Knight Files - Screenshots for File: Super Perfect EpIII Blades

Another thing is I wanted to make the trails more "realistic" in the sense that there is a shorter trail, but it is more solid like in the movies or MBII.

3) There are some .cfg things I wanted to do, but no idea how.

- Have all my visual settings (Resolution, graphics quality, dynamic glow) customized without having to do it in-game (via a .cfg perhaps?)
- Set the ragdoll, knockback, dismemberment, and other gameplay settings.

4) I wanted more RGB options like RGB sabers and characters. I found this mod but it doesn't work with MP, any way to make it work with MP? And is there an RGB sabers mod that isn't part of something else? (Such as JA+)

5) Shadows.

Shadowmod, Jedi Knight 3 Downloads, Jedi Knight 3 Mini-Mods

Nice idea, any way to fix that bug in the description, or possibly just make generally better shadows?

6) I was playing Movie Battles II and forgot how much I loved the saber system...Is there any way to recreate that? I'm guessing they haven't released any open source, and I obviously can't just rip their entire saber system and all the graphics and effects related to the sabers, but can anyone point me in the right direction to emulate this?

7) I found two mods (Here and Here) that made what was almost (or maybe it was) a bloom shader/effect for the game, make things look glowy for those who don't know what that is. I was wondering how this could be done, as I would like to fool around with what textures have it, what ones don't, the intensity, etc.

Thanks for reading.

And the post of the year award goes to...

Model scaling is a code feature. Simple as that.

Saber blades and trails are image files in base/gfx/effects/sabers. White areas are opaque, darker areas are increasingly translucent.

I've written the knockback and ragdoll settings into my ja.cfg and jamp.cfg. "Broadsword 1000" and "g_knockback 4000" are what I used. As for dismemberment, I just went into the .npc files and screwed around with them.

There's nothing that can be done about JA's shadows. Sorry, mate.

Correct me if I'm wrong about this, but MB's saber system was, at its basics, similar to OJP's. If that is the case, then it's a combination of coding and animating. Once again, sorry, mate.

The fakebloom is done by giving textures the "glow" parameter. Dynamic glow needs to be enabled for it to work.

"And that was when I realized that poking a sleeping dragon in the eye was a really bad idea."
My personal opinions are the opinions, viewpoints and damn near exact words of the Inter-Universal Alliance of Cornavesalionecular Medo-isethonomic Searathon Magtherium Guardians.

I haven't been able to get OJP to work at this end, Basic or Enhanced, so I wouldn't know.

And I don't mind if I have to code or animate to achieve this, I just would like some help on how to go about doing so.

As for the fakebloom, it's a shader with a glow parameter you're saying? That's just been applied to all textures?

Thanks for all your help.

Hm... I don't see why everybody has a problem with JA's bloom. I think it looks GREAT! As for a better saber system...

I've lately seen this mod at ModDB, which has manual blocking. I haven't tried it yet, but that sounds awesome as all hell, and a LOT better than the JKA "chance" blocking.

JKA has a -GREAT- weapons system, if you ask me. Action and speed oriented. It's saber system still needs work, albeit, it was awesome for it's time.

It still is one of the MOST controllable saber fighting systems in any SW game today. Button pushing doesn't do squat for feeling control over a saber, but having to literally move the character in the right direction for differently timed attacks, the katas, everything. It's badass as all hell.

But even with the awesomeness, it can be improved, still.

Applejack, why do you have to be so awesome?

It doesn't have any bloom. D:

Could you link me to this manual saber mod?

Well, okay. JKA DOESN'T have bloom, but it DOES have some kinda' glowy option. EG: Lights now give off a glow, and the tanks on the back of the mutant rancor glow as well. Stuff like that. Makes Lightsabers REALLY pretty!

Serenity Saber System/Evolution of Combat mod for Star Wars: Jedi Academy - Mod DB

Here you go, dude.

Thanks to you both.

Let me clear something up for you, that effect you are referring to is called Dynamic Glow. It's the effect that makes light sources glow.

Bloom is more of a blurred effect, take a look at those two mods I posted links too, and also Google the effect. It's almost like a "staring at the sun" effect. It's similar yes, but not quite the same effect.

I get the two confused quitw often. JKA's dynamic glow is really pretty, IMO.

We DO need bloom, though.

Idd the Mnauel block system in it is awesome i maked it work like that :P
and it is far more cool then the system mb2 use.. i like mb2 saber system to but it is still to hard to play with that it is code more defreind then my system is..

EoC is not based on how much block point you have or anything else.. we focus more on a mod there is high block in with manuel block with it to make it loooks cool but also to safe you life in defrind ways.. the saber system is balance for now.. do have bugs there need to be fixed but will come when i got time to look in to it again.. i hate school :P
