Hi
I've made my own skin based on model from JCP (Jedi Customization Pack) with new robes etc.
I know how to make shaders file but don't know exactly how to make a proper "torso-spec", "arms-spec" etc. files.
I'm working in Photoshop CS3, if something (trial version for now, but it's enough as i'm not planning much in the direction of grafics ;p)
Well firstly, cloth doesn't shine. Second, adding shaders to a model wont make it any better just because they are there. A specular map is just a copy of the original textures with higher brightness/contrast and it is overlay the original texture where light is interacting with the vertex's to emulate shine.
In short, for the love of god don't make cloth shine cause it doesn't in real life so it's gonna look dumb in game.

well if he uses a darker specular texture with some smooth highlights at the wrinkles/folds of the cloth texture it mgiht add some depth to it but he shouldnt use a bright environment texture
I think you don't understand the purpose of specularity. It changes based on lighting -- depth does not, so if you want depth just paint it right into the base texture.

well I used depth in meaning of lighting i overtook that from my arts teacher in school I think......
anyway I meant he shouldnt paint intensive highlights on the main texture just some very low ones and add the brighter ones at the specular texture the inverted thing for shadows
Well I've made a skin with a dark robe with a lot of brushes on it, so I think shaders can look good on it
So if I understand, I have to make the original texture black-white?
