My lava issue....

I am new to mapping. Ive learned a nice amount about radiant and how to use it, so I am not entirely oblivious. The map I am making is on Taspir. So obviously, I would want lava. I made a brush, covered it with Lava caulk, and put the only Lava texture I have on top and on the bottom (I believe thats how I am supposed to do it, I saw it in a tutorial, the first one on the list of mapping tutorials on jk3files). NOTE: originally I only put the texture on top. Since this was my first liquid, I was excited. I wanted to test it out ingame. So, I loaded up Multiplayer, used devmap to get to my map, look at the lava, and jumped on. Note how I said "On" instead of "In", there is a reason. I landed on top of the lava! Receiving only fall damage and nothing else. I walked on top of the lava thinking I was just not falling through because I had GOD mode on. Ive faced that problem before in the Movie Duels mod, I got kicked onto the lava, and I was standing on it, in that mod I died when I turned off god. That could not have been the case here because I received fall damage. I gave the .map file to my clan mate and he told me that the lava I was using was simply, solid. Can anyone help me with this? I would appreciate it greatly.

Easy, whoever told you to only cover the top and the bottom was wrong. Cover every surface, even the ones you won't see in game.

And the texture that shows as lava is just the static image, not the shader.

I forget the name of the texture, but if you load the ffa5 sample map, and select the top face of the lava, it should auto-select that texture in the texture window. That's the one you want to be using.
