[300] Total Conversion
 
To all game modders, map makers, skin makers, and others.
For weeks I have been wanting to get into some serious modding:bows:, and I just came up with a really good ieda.

A 300 SP Total conversion.
This conversion will be based on the 300 movie released in the year 2006.
I'm still thinking of a good title for it, but if you come up with any idea's let me know. There are however no force powers, because Spartans, and persions don't have any powers. The powers that we will have in JKA are Force Jump level one, and offensive style level 3, and defensive style level 3.

Total Conversion will include:

New skills for the spartans.

Characters:
King Leonidas
Captain
Stelios
Astinos
and more.

Enimies:
Xerxes
Persions
Immortal
Rhino's (If Possible)
That creature that attacked Leonidas during the immortal fight, and got his eye stabbed. (If possible)

Allies:
Spartan Soilders

Locations:
Sparta Home
Hot Gates
Xerxes Lair
Ephor cliff
and more

Weapons:
Spartan Sword
Spear
Shield for defense
Bow and Arrow for persions.
Fists and Feet

Missions: Will be discused

We definatly need a bloody dismemberment mod for this conversion. I know theres already one out.
I can help out with the mapping, and some of the skins. I'll definatly need help with weapons, and model making.
This will be the best mod conversion that anybody had ever seen once it is complete.
Anybody interested? If you come up with any ideas, I would love to hear them.

Well, if you can get some coders, then i have a couple of ideas:

Play as both Persian and Spartan
You should be able to play as both the Persians and the Spartans.

More levels for attack and defense

Spartans - lvl 5 attack and defense
Persians - lvl 4 attack and defense

Shields (both in a model sense, and a HUD sense)
Spartans have big shiny shields (bronze color), and have 300 shield
Persians have wicker ones (brown and ugly), and have 150 shield

NPC followers
Persians had MASSIVE amounts of people. For Persian SP side, have 50 NPC's follow you into battle, essentially taking from your leadership (you attack, so do they. You stop, they stop behind you). Everytime an NPC dies, another one spawns (just set the NPC limit to 50, and when it goes to 49, spawn another NPC)

Phalanx
Have the force meter replaced by a new one, a Phalanx meter. Everytime you kill an enemy, it goes up. After the meter is full, press a button or whatever, and the Spartans will assemble into a phalanx (the big line you saw in the movie), and just push forward, with spears in hand and such. After 15 seconds or whatever, the process repeats.

Persian Fleet/Animals
The Persians had a huge fleet. Maybe have it there, and sometimes fire a rack of arrows into the Spartan side of the battle (At the pass of Thermopalye). You would have to raise your shield to protect yourself from the arrows. And, animals, like elephants. Probably scale up the tauntaun and replace it. nice movement to base off of)

New Controls
- Primary attack: Slash, hack, cut
- Secondary attack: Parry with shield
- "Kata": Hold your shield to protect from arrows
- Crouch: Crouch down, and hold shield in front of you, defensively
- DFA (forward, jump, attack): The animation plays where that one guy from the movie cuts the arm off of the Persian.
- Styles: Change weapons based on style
Blue: Your dagger, stabbing and slashing
Yellow: Pull your spear, Stabbing motion
Red: Main sword, hacking and slashing

Spear Throw
Instead of saber throw, replace the anim with a spear being thrown through the air (select it with force switching). It doesn't come back to you

Obviously, you need LOTS of coding to do this, but i thought i'd just provide my input.

Possible Missions (not in order):
- Journey to the Oracle, by climbing a mountain.
- Obviously, Persians vs Spartans at the pass
- Killing the Wolf (so, you would need a wolf model (possibly conversion from the howler))
- Surviving the whipping and beating (pressing the space bar or whatever to keep the pain suppressed)
- Killing the slave (if spotted, you lose)
(those are the only ones that come to mind, i havent seen the movie in a while)



So, those are my idea's. I know most of them are WAY to complicated for the Q3 engine to handle, but its worth it to mention.

by the way, i am a mapper, however i haven't released anything, and my mapping skills are, well, less then spectacular. If i can obtain your permission, i would like to set up some forums for this mod. Ill try to be a part of if, if i can.

Awesome wicked cool idea. This will make any mod conversion unlike any mod that anybody has ever seen:D:D. We certainly have to go with this, and if possible add more if we come up with new ideas.
Also permission granted to set a new forums for the 300 total conversion. I really like your idea for the title. We'll use that as a working title for now, if we ever get finished with this mod and still have that as a title, than we are going with that.
Also my idea for another mission, would be "Spartan Training". Thats where you start off as Leonidas as a young boy, and your progressing through your training, then after the next level, you start off as him again only older, and you go through harder training.

Nice work there, and ya your right its going to be tough, do know any coders out there that would be helpful. Right now I'm working on the home town of Sparta, but if you can make a better one, can you send it to me somehow? Like provide me with a link for me download it, or email me the zip file.

To be honest I'd look for a dedicated coder before planning anything big or making maps. Once you have a coder you know you can proceed with other vital things such as scripts, maps, models, skins etc.

Double W Jedi, once you sign up, ill make you Admin (along with any other people you tell me to)

I like the idea about Spartan Training. I think it would be very interesting.
Another person we need added: NPC maker with the models/skins (settings for young boys, etc)

Also, maybe remove the scale limit, so we can actually be "young", and we can "grow"

Most of those, if not all, are impossible for the Q3 engine. If you want a 300 mod like that, choose a different Engine and Game like Unreal 3 or the Source Engine.

Thanks for setting up the new forums Katio, sry if I miss spelled it. I like your idea about scaling the model so that your actually young and then growning up:D. Someone suggested that we need to find a bigger quake 3 engine for the mod, any idea where and what it is?

I dont know if we need a bigger engine, just some changes to the current one (that, and i only have experience mapping for the Q3 one)

Play as both Persian and Spartan

I know for a fact that having arrows fire after a while is possible. Not sure how you would protect yourself tho.

Replace the animation with a spear being thrown. With it coming back, just have it play the "saber drop anim", but delete the part where it says "come back when i press attack"

Nice work kaito,:bows: I was thinking for the phlanax, we have the health meter look like its actually blood that rises up each time you increase your health, and lowers each time your health decreases. I was thinking, that we need to find a way to send each other files of the mod so that we can test them, and comment about. Is it possible for you to create a file upload server for the admins to access, that way when new files come up, we can test them, just like in jk2files.com. Also we might need some video footage for cut scenes.

Right now I;m working on a map pack series for 300, and uploading them to jk2files.com, and see what the staff members and other people think about them. Then if possible, I can enhance them.

You can't "get" an engine. By engine he basiclly means a different game.

Or you could try making it for multiplayer, then theres alot more you can do.

If there are any people out there, that are really good with coding or animations, I could really use the help, or do you know if theres a site that can teach me that kind of stuff and what kind of tools I need for it.
I really want this mod to be a success, and I can't finish it on my own.

what TFOpanda already said was that the source code for SP hasnt been released kaito... therefore you cant code SP. only MP. meaning most of your ideas would only work in MP :\

um...sure you can "get" an engine. There are standalone "engines" with all the other nessecary stuff to get started. You can try BeyondVirtual and DXStudio if you want. The game me and some friends are making will use a modified version of DXStudio with the Irrilicht rendering engine. (perhaps, we havent put the renderer through any tests yet, it might not be as powerful as the one included with DX.)

On a serious note, though, never have this many NPCs at once, unless you're a fan of slideshows, that is.

Without the SP source codes, unless you reverse engineer the game, what was suggested is as possible as escaping the Event Horizon of a Black Hole.

Editing the NPC code is in the SDK. It's just alot of it isn't used. Like the main npc actions are in NPC_Stormtrooper, rather than NPC_Combat. It's hard to make heads or tales of which functions are actually used. Like the whole surrender code is all screwed up.

Back on topic! I got the MP sdk, and it doesn't mean crap to me. My bet is the SP code would be even harder because of mission objectives, cutscenes, the like. For SP? Even with the SDK, it'd be hard. If we do go though with this, we might be better off making it for MP; a modefied version of siege, maybe?

P.S. I've got spartan models; soldier, and Leonidas. Lemme know if you want 'em.

Huh...I would totally download this if it were to really happen, I would say I could help because I used to be a pretty decent mapper, but I removed most of the files and now many of the textures don't work, so...yeah...I'm a little bit useless. Soz =/

It's the npcs surrending. In singleplayer, if rodians and stuff saw rancors, they would drop their weapon, run around, and lift their hands. in the MP SDK, it's pretty screwed up.

Guys, if you wanted single player stuff in multiplayer, then try out OJP Enhanced, Basic. They already have made alot of SP features in MP that you can use (OJP is open source). It's alot more stable, so more npcs can be used.
