Maybe you should read the text before asking ?
''this is only a part of the map'' so, yeah, it's gonna be much bigger.
Size of... hmm.. Jedi'sHome II JL or JediCouncil gcx.
I'll try my best to avoid the fps lag. But thnx anyway.

I have to make some of the places smaller
than they would be in for example, in a duel map.
A good example of this is the bridge. I can't
make it so big cuz if it is too big, youll get the fps lag
while walking/running on it and turning around.

Where have I heard this 'Edo Period' before?:uhoh:
Anyway.. I'll promise you the map will be much much better than
the other ''japanese'' maps.. no offence.

That looks quite nice - it's hard to tell without textures tho. I like the bridge alot.
Just don't ruin your brushwork with bad textures later on.

I don't think you should use the bespin water.. I would suggest making a new one. (I don't really like the JKA water shaders..)
You should also detail the "streets" with barrels and stuff when you get into that. Maybe a small boat in the water aswell?

Great job - keep on working! =)

Yah, it is hard to tell yet if it will be good or not. Good look . Im looking towards it !

i have to compliment you as you are using caulk on every single brush. That is a mistake many mappers do by putting every single piece of art on the "correct" texture without using caulk where it should be caulk. :)

Zefilus October 24th, 2007 10:07 PM

Thanks Iswer. I use caulk on every brush in my maps, keep that in mind. I choose the Caulk texture, and start doing the map, and add textures when everything else is done. Oh and YES I am doing a Edo Period map, now that I remember where I've heard it before. I have been thinking about the details a lot lately. I think I should add some details in the texture, if you know what I mean and add some ''barrels & stuff''. And I was actually thinking about making a boat or 2 in the river.

Umm...

My computer went down. I can't use it atm.
The map is now probably gone with everything else
I had on my comp. So I have to do it all over again
when I get my computer up and running again.

But luckily I had only done the bridge, pagoda, restaurant
and few houses.. =) Rebuilding them wont take much
time, but fixing my computer and installig the windows
might take some time...

I wont give up on this, I'll do tha map on my friends comp.
if I must. Because I really think this map is important for
those who likes to play with swords and for the
Samurai-clans. It doesnt look good if a clan with samurai skins and swords
playes in ffa3 or ffa5 map, does it ?

No, you're right, it doesn't look too good.

Thanks for keeping us updated, and I forgot to mention, it was smart of you to start with Caulk, as 3 quarts of a maps textures is usually or should usually be Caulk.

iswer November 1st, 2007 05:48 AM

Oh, dang, that's not very nice to hear. I say good luck with the rebuilding (and your computer..), and keep us informed 'bout the progress!

Back

So, my computer works again, AND I still got all the .map files
on my computer. I just had to install Gtk + JKA and some other
programs all over again. So I'll be continuing with the map as usual
and I'll send you some screenshots of the map when I
have added the few textures that I've made.

Great, can't wait. :)
