stellcat August 21st, 2007 03:20 PM

Escape Yavin and Survival mod.
Vengence of the sith is preety good too.

But escape Yain is my Fav because it's like a new game.
New story TONS of new levels.

It is actully what is inspiring my current project
(But anyway)

Escape Yavin the lost maps.
If it was not falling away i'd say the DF mod would be my fav.

But it looks like we will only get a6 level demo.
...SIGH....I hope somone offers to finish the mod.
They said anyone is welcone to it.

Dark Alliance and Dark Alliance 11: Vengeance of the Sith. The Survival Mod is pretty good too. Syndicate or watever its called is pretty good but confusing.

Inyri Forge August 21st, 2007 05:44 PM

I'm very fond of the Nina series of mods. They've got a strong story and the maps in them are awesome. Quality stuff.

O ya, forgot about those! Good stuff there.

stellcat August 21st, 2007 07:24 PM

The only reason why I'm not crazy about NIna series is because they are
so short. I get excited with the quality and fun of the levels but then it's over in 10 minutes.

Well hopefully the new Nina addition will be longer than the others.
They should put all of the Nina level done so far into a single mod.

lassev August 22nd, 2007 12:52 AM

For JA, Nina series for sure. But considering both JO and JA, it would be Colosseum for me.

stikk August 22nd, 2007 03:05 AM

I LOVED the Colosseum mod for JO. It was so fun. Realistic, maybe not so much, but it had a lot of new models as well.

This looks like a job for...! Someone else, because I'm too busy.

Anyway, The thing which annoyed me about the colosseum was that it was just too short (that and it crashed a lot). It'd be cool to have a JA version of that, possibly making use of things like animals to fight.

cdmanjak August 22nd, 2007 10:29 AM

hey inyri didnt you do some voice acting for the nina mod i recently played nova unit a lil short but great mod and your not too bad an actor inyri :P

Inyri Forge August 22nd, 2007 10:36 AM

I may have... :lookaround:

stellcat August 22nd, 2007 12:30 PM

Aka Yes ^^

Jedi Joe August 22nd, 2007 01:45 PM

Hmmmm... I haven't really got into SP mods, but I like using models I have that have SP support.

Zeith August 22nd, 2007 01:48 PM

A funny mod I played once was Deception.

The One and Only August 22nd, 2007 01:49 PM

Far too many NPCs at once in that mod, ran at about 0.1 FPS or something ridiculous.

Precisely, they were all just dumped in the map at the start with npc_spawn entities. No triggering, no spawn events, just dumping NPCs in the map from the start.

Shoddy way to make an SP map, if you ask me....

lassev August 22nd, 2007 03:03 PM

I'm pretty sure Deception had NPC instancing in place. In fact, I think I complained to Shad about things like that when I was beta testing the level. Of course my system back then was hardly stellar, but all in all the problem appeared only in those few places where lots of NPCs were spawned at once. It was architecturally inevitable (and of course made further more inevitable by the fact Shad apparently likes massive battles).

Seriously?

Huh, must be confusing it with something else. Wow, it's true, memory sure does fade with old age.

Inyri Forge August 22nd, 2007 03:29 PM

I wondered why you were being so harsh on Shadriss, being as how he's like... amazing. o.O

Mikouen August 22nd, 2007 05:55 PM

Well, upon a detailed perusal of el índice famoso de Google, it turns out that over 143 mod-related links exist (or have existed within the last five years) primarily featuring the term 'Deception'. 50-55 of them were duds, 11 either had only trace amounts of progress before being abandoned and/or were never started, and 9 are for games I don't own. The rest weren't actually mods; just stuff like AMVs or fanfics.

After filtering out the crap by changing search criteria, there were nine mods known as 'Deception' that I've played and/or heard of, and/or would be able to play if I so desired. One was a mission pack for Unreal 2, one was a Starcraft campaign, and a third was a Neverwinter Nights mod.

Five of the remaining six were Jedi Academy mods, the remaining one was a Jedi Outcast mod.

Of the six JK-related 'Deception' mods, five of them were nowhere near meeting the standards I'd consider release-worthy, mostly on account of the fact that they were nowhere near being finished but also because there was no real effort or work behind them. Five-minute jobs, would be a reasonable idea.

6:1 may be decent odds, but that's still a 83.33% margin of error. Honest mistake, right? :clueless:

The One and Only August 23rd, 2007 03:05 AM

Ok, well the Deception mod I'm talking about is the one with Assassin droids disguised as protocol droids.

lassev August 23rd, 2007 03:17 AM

Yeah. There were some points with really high concentrations of NPCs spawned at once. Especially in the large hall with multiple balconies if memory serves.

Other than that, it was really solid mapping, as can be expected from Shad. And I doubt any more modern systems would have problems even with those few CPU intensive places.

CrashmanX August 23rd, 2007 12:58 PM

yea ive played deception but wasnt to keen on it right now im playing Escape from Yavin 4 ITS HARD im lookin for a GOOD Medieval SP mod cause i love using Swords

~ibonek~ August 23rd, 2007 01:19 PM

I tried downloading Escape Yavin or watever but the PC with JA is in my room and this PC is in my parents room so i have to write mods and stuff to CDs and go to my room and copy the stuff to my PC in my room. and i tried doing that and it said it was corrupted, so i tried again still same thing.

I might be getting Internet in my room soon so i could wait till then if the CD thing is the problem. And yes that IS a LOT of CDs. Right now i have a stack of about 9 CDs of JA and KOTOR mods. lol

:rolleyes:Heck yes. But ya i have considered that, but i dont download as much anymore and once i get internet in my room, i wont need CDs and i'll be able to play JA online!:naughty: lol

Larry McBruce August 23rd, 2007 03:11 PM

Well, my personal choices would be "Colosseum" (Jake Keating) for Jedi Outcast, and "Syndicate: Initiation" (lassev, the mighty god of scripts) for Jedi Academy. Why those two? Because they're both a refreshing change from the usual "shoot'em all" mods, mine included.

@ Inyri, Lassev: Thanks guys

CrashmanX August 23rd, 2007 05:26 PM

hmm well i like surviaval cause its HARD but awsome ill have to try Syndicate cause ive never heard of it but ill do that later thx guys We NEED a sticky for SP STORY mods so people can find them

Larry McBruce August 24th, 2007 05:51 AM

That's an idea. Anyway, you can download Syndicate from here:
Syndicate: Initiation, Jedi Knight 3 Downloads, Jedi Knight 3 Single Player

stellcat August 24th, 2007 08:13 AM

Escape yavin owns all PERIOD!
In my opinion :)

CrashmanX August 24th, 2007 12:51 PM
