Hmmmm... I haven't really got into SP mods, but I like using models I have that have SP support.

A funny mod I played once was Deception.

Far too many NPCs at once in that mod, ran at about 0.1 FPS or something ridiculous.

Precisely, they were all just dumped in the map at the start with npc_spawn entities. No triggering, no spawn events, just dumping NPCs in the map from the start.

Shoddy way to make an SP map, if you ask me....

I'm pretty sure Deception had NPC instancing in place. In fact, I think I complained to Shad about things like that when I was beta testing the level. Of course my system back then was hardly stellar, but all in all the problem appeared only in those few places where lots of NPCs were spawned at once. It was architecturally inevitable (and of course made further more inevitable by the fact Shad apparently likes massive battles).

Seriously?

Huh, must be confusing it with something else. Wow, it's true, memory sure does fade with old age.

I wondered why you were being so harsh on Shadriss, being as how he's like... amazing. o.O
