Default Skin detail problems

I have a skin made for a saber which inclides the following piece:

Spoiler:

It looks great in modview. But, when I get it in game, it turns into a dark gray blurred spot. This is with NO SHADERS. Could it be that theres too much detail in such a small place and it runs together?

ModView renders small details better than the game itself. There's nothing you can really do about it, just increase the texture resolution.

I've had an odd variation of this problem. When making the blue team skin for the Fallen Warrior skin, the blue lines on the head appeared pixelated, while the orange ones are fine, despite the only difference being the colour.

Ya when it gets in game it seems like fine texturs stretch. Not much that can be done other them make the texture smaller. (Make sure you still cover the skinmap)
