PineTree Model request o_O

Well hello forums..
This is Zid.
Anyhow i have been working on a map project for a while now, and i just realised...
I need pinetrees!
I belive pinetrees would look extremely good on this map im making.
BUT.. I can't model >_>
so yea im asking anyone kindly enough out there to make me a useable pinetree model for my lil*cough* big map :)
http://www.cls.yale.edu/lexis/PD/content/pinetree.jpg
something like this.
I would be most happy if anyone could help me out :)

Ailin May 17th, 2007 05:02 AM

ahahaha made me laugh rofl a tree model never see that 1 coming good luck with that 1 hope that somebody makes it for ya

ZidZabre May 17th, 2007 05:34 AM

*ahem* this wasnt intended as a joke >_>
im quite serious.. i really need a pinetree model o_O

Ailin May 17th, 2007 08:15 AM

i know thats why i said good luck with that becaus they dont just make a model for anyone

Inyri Forge May 17th, 2007 02:41 PM

Not true at all. People don't make models for those who want to be lazy and not even try for themselves. Mappers get a lot better consideration considering they're mappers, not modelers, and they're busy making the map.

However I guess it's everyone's favorite past time to complain in every thread how their requests never get completed.

ZidZabre: do you prefer the full pine like that, or would something like a Christmas tree/typical evergreen work? Modeling that many needles, even simplistically, would be an uber-pain.

Ailin May 17th, 2007 02:51 PM

believe me i tried to make a model i whas reading manuals and i dint understand shit what i needed to do

Ayala May 17th, 2007 03:52 PM

I've seen some evergreen models before. They were on a private map though, I'll try to find out where they came from.

A simple pine tree would be a nice map object addition. I would think basic alpha-transparent textures for the leaves would be acceptable, and best for the engine.

Omegasigma May 17th, 2007 08:51 PM

I used to have a large array of models, however my lack in the field, lead me to have them removed as i just make them as part of the maps now, thanks to some ideas form other games

stikk May 18th, 2007 01:56 AM

Turbosquid.com has a bunch load of models, but the most part of them are either 700 bucks or don't have a readme to contact the author.

of course.
and to many polys tends to chew FPS ^_^
i just want a simple evergreen like pinetree :)

stikk May 18th, 2007 04:04 AM

This any thing like what you wanted?

Edit: Wait, is this more like it? 3D 3ds Tree 3D Model

Less polys.

Edit2: I just looked up a bit and found the picture you posted. Look nothing like mine. Sorry.

ZidZabre May 18th, 2007 04:09 AM

thats a palm tree o_O
and Q3e can handle more polygons :P

stikk May 18th, 2007 04:13 AM

Yeah, I just noticed. :p

I thought you said Palm tree, not pine. Sorry.

ZidZabre May 18th, 2007 04:27 AM

probaly good for a beach map though...
but my map really needs pinetrees o_O

Inyri Forge May 18th, 2007 01:32 PM

 That palm tree was awful. I made a more detailed palm tree, and it was supposed to be an 8-bit palm tree from Sonic. :p

I'll see if I can work on your pine tree this weekend, since I'm not working.

Inyri Forge May 18th, 2007 02:13 PM

well here's a nice branch texture that might be useful.

Inyri Forge May 19th, 2007 02:13 PM

I'm done texturing it, as you can easily see. I don't need some photo of a branch.

ZidZabre May 19th, 2007 03:18 PM

btw inyri,,hows the model going? :)

Inyri Forge May 19th, 2007 07:22 PM

It's done and working mostly right. Find me on MSN and I'll give you the updated version.

Way to be rude. I posted that before I realised there was a second page ;)

Inyri Forge May 20th, 2007 01:13 PM

Rude is in the eye of the beholder. I consider it more informing you of the obvious.

what of normal looking trees tho? not pine just those normal everyday trees? i could never seem to model one very well and if i did the polys drove me away

Inyri Forge May 20th, 2007 02:29 PM

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3.../palm_tree.jpg

:p

I may consider some regular trees, but they're a bit more complex than pine trees.
