You all have to stop being so negative. You're accusing him of stealing work, even though he has pictured proof of the work he's doing. You're jumping on him and attacking him viciously because you don't believe him, and you know what? None of you are going to change the other's mind. As for me, I believe he did this. I don't give a crap whether or not he skinned somebody else's model or made a whole new one. Perhaps he's just smart enough to have his work criticized and improved, instead of releasing a paint-bucketed reborn skin. You're never going to believe him, no matter what evidence he gives, so knock it off. You're all acting so self-righteous because you know the ins and outs of a modeling program. Ever stop to think that somewhere, sometime, you might be wrong? HORRORS NO! Instead of discussing intelligently the design and work he's done on his model, he has to defend himself from rabid disbelievers like yourselves. You guys should be ashamed. This is like interrogation, only you're not listening to what the other person is even saying. You guys should be ashamed, and I hope you read this and take it seriously. If you think you're being mature here, you're wrong. You can be skeptical, and you can voice that, but you're getting more and more bold with your "this is fake work and I condemn you to the depths of the underworld." You're just picking out things you can spin to make them look like he's ripped it from somebody's work. It's insulting and shameful.
Anyway, now that that's finally out, I'm going to do some actual commenting on the model, coming from the view of believing you actually did it. (But I never said I couldn't be slightly skeptical.)
I don't know too much about modeling, (that's gonna get me grilled with those above) but the face, while accurate, looks like it's warped, almost like during Palpatine's transformation. A little less wrinkly around some areas and straighter, the better. Palpatine's face was abnormally tight for his age during the movie. Other then that, I can't really pick out anything you should work on. (At least nothing critical.)
It also occurred to me that minilogoguy asked for picture from the modeling program and such, and when you provided those, he still rebuked you. I think that's called "ignoring the evidence to support your theory." Huh. Go figure.
same happened to me with my model while i only used a jedi trainer torso but still they wouldnt believe but hey what do ya know....my model on the frontpage of jk2files...meaning...he didnt steal a lot of models!
just keep going dude, i like ur palpatine, best one out there so far
OK, gotta chime in (prolly late, but meh)and say that I'm really enjoying the debate and the progress. I would like to point out that the time, effort and energy necessary to learn a program effectively enough to fake work is almost about the same needed to actually make it. Fakes can be pointed out a mile away with a keen eye. This seems to be the exception to the rule, as the idea of a fabricated model usually comes with examples of where the fake came from. So far I haven't seen any.
Besides, for all the dIscussion about ripping off models, the concept of stealing software to make said models is on a "don't ask don't tell" basis. If its not ok to steal models, then its not ok to steal software to make them either. But you won't hear much discussion about that here.
Ok, enough ranting. I really hope the scrutiny has not scared you off Toshi. JKA needs some good modders, as many have moved on for a number of reasons. Its nice to see more talent coming into the fold. Welcome!
The reason of our 'attitude' towards stealing models and such, is because we recently had a guy who stole a bunch of models, maps and more, claimed to be it's own and asked 'donations' to make more of them.

Of course, so in the future we'll blame Inyri and Gir etc for stealing models aswell, cause you know someone else have so why not blame everyone else for it?
Just because someone has made a terrific model and not being registered on these boards until now, doesn't mean they couldn't of learned it somewhere else. Believe it or not but there are plenty of other boards where you can find the tools and tutorials needed to learn how to make a model.
In short, you are an idiot for assuming such a thing without any kind of proof.

Amen. How can anyone possibly compare Toshi to Tim? Tim asks for money as he steals entire models blatantly with little denial (only in the sense of claiming he has permission he does not have). Toshi says he is a new modeler and starts a WIP thread and simply based on the idea that the model is too good to come from him, someone you know nothing about, the attacks begin. Why would a model thief start a WIP thread? You guys (the flamers) have little common sense, you're rude and should be ashamed of yourselves. Even though you probably have no regrets you will still pay in the form of throwing away a good modeler who could have brought good work to filefront but now he's taking his good work elsewhere (good places). Good job guys.
Btw, to further illustrate my point about the stupidity of comparing Toshi to Tim, Toshi has denied Tim permission to use his model.
*sigh* You people really do find it necessary to jump on every thread you see and turn it into a flame war, don't ya?
Since common sense is such a rarity around here, I'm going to tell you what your brain should have been telling you a long time ago: think before you post.
If you have nothing civil to say, then whatever you have to say most likely isn't worth saying. There's a fine line between scrutiny and being an asshole. Make sure you're on the right side of it, because not only will crossing that line make you many an enemy within this community, but it will also bring you to the attention of not only myself but the senior forum staff.
Rather than a solid set of "rules", we chose to instead give general guidelines and leave the rest up to common sense. These forums generally promote a reasonable degree of freedom. Use it, don't abuse it.
Criticising someone's work = fine.
Using someone's work as an excuse to turn them into a flame-grilled double cheeseburger = unacceptable.
At the very least, treat people with a degree of common courtesy. If you can't manage that, then mind your own business and go find something else to do with your time. I'm getting sick of being unable to trust people to not start a flame war.
Congratulations on pissing people off and giving the entire Jedi Academy community an even worse reputation than the pathetically low one it already had!
