Re: [WIP] Supreme chancellor Palpatine

I can take a look at your max files and clear your name, certainly (should that be the case), but I am not an administrator of these forums. I can tell you, though, that if you had posted WIP shots here during process far fewer people would have suspected anything. Certainly you can understand why a person who came out of nowhere claiming to have been modeling for four weeks and has shown a very good-looking model could seem suspicious to anyone.

I wouldn't recommend giving up because of this, though. If anything it should suggest to you that the people here respect the work of original, whereas on other forums people are praised for plagiarism, etc.

I didn't know that this forum existed when I started, I posted WIP pics at the void. I can send you the max files, along with the working but not finished models. do I upload them and send you the link via pm?

Toshi, I hope you arnt turned off by some suspicious people. They have a right to be. I don't. And so I apologize for any suspicions I had. I hope you prove me wrong. I checked out the other WIP thread you had, and it seems to be honest.

These forums and the main page are highly moderated by some excellent staff who go out of their way to make sure everything is honest. A kind enviornment comes with trust. And trust comes with time. I hope you will stick around long enough for that.

feeling threatened? no, far from it. i actually thrive on good hearty competition.

BUT, the fact remains that this forum is mostly full of idiots and thieves. so i hope you can appreciate where i'm coming from if i am a little skeptical.

as for making an idiot of myself? that rarely if ever, happens. so you sculpt and paint in your spare time, i spend mine running, honing my physique, studying anatomy, and shooting things either with a rifle, or a bow. however, my contract work says i do know what i'm talking about in this field.

i'm curious though, how did you manage to get a subdivided head into jka? o_O

I'm not competing, you are.

Actually I don't. There other ways to get your point across. Saying that this forum is made up of idiots and thieves is insulting every member here.

Well, I've been reading a lot of threads here, and it seems to happen to you on a daily basis.

Good for you. I smoke 1 pack of smokes a day, so I can´t really compete with that.

Rather fix the normal face than engaging in these pathetic arguments.

Very few people here are outright unfriendly (unless deserved). We just have a couple of particular people who are very blunt.

I'm curious, Toshi, why you used meshsmooth on the head. I've made entire models with fewer polies than just your model's head. o.O If you could send me a 3DS or something of the head without the modifier (I have Max7 so I unfortunately can't open Max9 scenes) that would be quite helpful.

Also you've not set up your model at all to deform in the joint areas. You've put edges in the middle of his shin, though, which serve no purpose. Remember that where no deformation takes place, no horizontal edges are necessary.

Lol, that's becuse I followed the joan of arc tut without having the game in mind. Honestly, I didn't know. That's why I had the high polygon count and had to use multires. The joints? No idea. I've recently been reading about edgeloops, so almost everything is new to me. I'll convert the file you need to 3ds7, tell me wich one you would like and I'll send it back to you. I really want you to see that I didn't steal anyones work.

EDIT: I sent you the head mesh as a .3ds.
