ShaderEd fails at previewing. It simply can't render all of the elements you'll see in game, so it'll be a relative preview rather than an actual preview.
Yes, it may be failing, but it's the only way you can preview a shader without viewing it in-game.

Which takes all of 5 mins... I believe the question is "What's the point of using ShaderED to preview it when it's just as easy to view it in-game, and far more accurate?"

Actually I believe the question was;

And I would if I knew how to do shaders the manual way, but then again how would you be able to preview them without going in game?
And that is the question I answered, but if you feel the need of arguing any further, then feel free to do so.

Our point is merely that you should always preview your shaders in game so that you can see how it'll render and what it will look like under different circumstances.
There's nothing wrong with working on theory, but if you work on theory alone then you'll never get the results you want. Practical testing is a must.

On the first image? i would think like most ppl do, u put in a block colour scheme, then when ur happy with the layout, google for the type of texture u want (im guessing a brick wall texture maybe) made a new layer, and overlayed it on top, so it blends togther. Then maybe use the burn/dodge tools to put in shadows and hightlights. Ofc im assuming photoshop was used :P

I'm quite able to make a brick texture without photosourcing it. In any case, I don't plan on doing that. Plus it's not brick, obviously, so using a brick texture would be silly.

well i was using it more as a example obv, coz i dont know what u did, u dont have to go all ''pro'' on me :P lol, but some textures can be used like brick, and look diffrent on models :P its how u use it i suppose.

Photosourcing is never a good idea, since you won't be able to get the texture to fit the skinmap without seriously damaging it. The end result is that your skin will look entirely fugly.

question about sounds
Lightsource
April 29th, 2007 11:31 AM
I used new sounds in the model that I've submited, and I have recorded them in stereo, but the taunts and other sounds can be heard fine in the game ( in the console game there's an error about the stereo sounds but I can use them fine anyway)... it's just my JA that's going crazy or I need to record them in mono?
