Project Zero

I made this thread so I can post pictures and other news from work in progress from my "project zero" weapons pack.

So those who doesn't know I'm making weapons from different megaman series (MMX, MMZ and MMZX) so weapons that are almost ready so far:
Z-saber, Omega-saber, ZX-saber, ZX-Omega, TripleRod, RecoilRod, ShieldBoomerang, MMX-saber, Leviathan (spear), Phantom (claws), Harpuia (Saber)

next week I'll post pictures of work so far and reference pics I used

Also making gun replacement: zeros blaster and resistance fighters rifle

also maybe X-buster and Phanteon stun baton or something

Please tell me if I forgot some weapon

Omegasigma April 5th, 2007 04:46 AM

Re: Project Zero

the buster will be also appearing from me as well, if i ever get around to making it, it'll replace the default gun in my future project.

Bluestormtrooper April 5th, 2007 05:34 AM

Re: Project Zero

Uhh...perhaps you should of made this when you actually had pictures to post. Would of made more sense.

Black Hawk 86 April 5th, 2007 09:27 AM

Re: Project Zero

I have few but these are already old and I don't have reference pictures now

but anyway here

New to these are textures and other little "updates" that doesn't show in pics

Ryo Thorn April 5th, 2007 10:06 AM

Re: Project Zero

Certainly is.. diffrent. I've always got to say it. WORK ON THE SKINNING. The blades are non-realilistic and odd looking, the handles are in need of rounding and skinning as well. Besides that, go go you!

Black Hawk 86 April 6th, 2007 04:01 AM

Re: Project Zero

Here are new ones and ref pics I used I also have shaders but I don't know how to "add" them meaning I can't get them in-game but pictures are here

First Ref.pics.

Black Hawk 86 April 6th, 2007 04:06 AM

Re: Project Zero

Rest of weapons

I forgot to take screenshot from Recoil Rod so I'll put it later
every weapons blade should glow, move and be transparent and I have shaders for it I just don't know how to add them in-game so after reading few tutorials these are ready

I also started making blaster as default weapon replace but it is hard to model so it takes awhile to make it

Ryo Thorn April 6th, 2007 06:01 AM

Re: Project Zero

OH! I get it! The shaders aren't even in place yet! That's cool then. I really like the errr.. glowy spinny throwy sheild of death, thing! (I honestly can't remember what it's called, I've played all the MMZ games and it slips my mind.) When you get the shaders in place all of these will be pure kickass I'm sure. Now as for the Z saber.. err.. maybe a bit longer? It looks more like a Z dagger to me >_o (unless of course you meant it to be a Z dagger, in which case it's fine!) Thanks for putting the time in to making something like this (so I don't have to) it's going to stay in my base folder, that's for sure!

on a side note, you might want to add a light chrome/spec shader to the hilts, just to give it that extra umph. you know?

Black Hawk 86 April 6th, 2007 06:22 AM

Re: Project Zero

I was wondering why it's hard to kill stuff with z-saber and other samekind weapons I think most of these are from zx series so if anyone has ref pics for guardians weapons from mmz series please point them for me so I'll make those also didn't elpizo have saber also? oh about chrome shader I was thinking that also and that "glowy spinny throwy sheild of death" is Shield Boomerang. Should I also make Chain Rod? I know that games engine doesn't support whip like weapons but I could make it as sword

oh Ryo I do you know anything about shaders I might need some help with them (those tutorials are hard to understand expecially when english is not your mother language)

Black Hawk 86 April 6th, 2007 06:49 AM

Re: Project Zero

Recoil Rod

Triple Rod (yellow style kata)

Darth Zion April 6th, 2007 07:02 AM

Re: Project Zero

Looks cool so far. I'm a big fan of the zero series so those are gonna stay in my base folder when I get em:nodding:

Black Hawk 86 April 6th, 2007 08:46 AM

Re: Project Zero

Made chain rod

I'm starting to understand this modeling thing :D
So if anyone has good pics of elpizos saber and was it Dynamo in MMX5 he uses saber too and so does Agile from MMX2

in short any pics of blade type weapons from entire megaman series Megaman MegamanX Megaman Zero Megaman ZX but no legends and battle network series (those doesn't belong anywhere in timeline of megaman saga I MIGHT make blades from battlenetwork but not yet and that would be completely other weapon pack)

Ryo Thorn April 6th, 2007 10:26 AM

Re: Project Zero

I can try to help with shaders all I can, but I usually make *interesting* mistakes with them that have entirely awesome but unintended effects. (Like glowing eyes on one of my skins, that was unique.) HOWEVER, the trails look purely awesome in the screenshots, I still *personally* would either make the textures on the blades either more blured or scroll WAY fast to give them a nice flickering effect.

Black Hawk 86 April 7th, 2007 08:19 AM

Re: Project Zero

I think that when those blades glow and are transparent they'll look slightly blurrier oh about triple rod even though only the blade leaves trail the hilt also does damage but only 25 percent of normal damage it actually has three blades two in "blade" and one in hilt

does anyone know is it possible to make animations to sabers like actually make shield boomerang move like it's supposed to and maybe make little movement to chain rod also

Ryo do you need only textures or whole pack to make shaders

Ryo Thorn April 7th, 2007 09:13 PM

Re: Project Zero

I make shaders by hand, it's the easiest way for me. There's some tutorials on it I think. But you just need the textures in theory.. but the whole pack if you want to be able to see them?

Black Hawk 86 April 9th, 2007 11:14 PM

Re: Project Zero

I'll give that pack tomorrow oh and don't mind about blades pointing in weird directions in some of the weapons like harpuia and chain rod I haven't fixed them yet

Black Hawk 86 April 10th, 2007 06:01 AM

Re: Project Zero

There is one thing I've been thinking: shield boomerang should be throwable but still I can't throw it and other claw type weapon I made was throwable (I deleted this one so I don't have it anymore). both has/had bolttowrist 1 in .sab file.

Black Hawk 86 April 10th, 2007 11:59 PM

Re: Project Zero

Weapons are ready except that shield boomerang problem and I didn't make those blasters

Black Hawk 86 April 11th, 2007 01:34 AM

Re: Project Zero

is there anywhere tutorials on how to make own HUD like in mmz games I know it's possible 'couse there are other custom huds in filefront

I'll also make new menu mmz style.

sorry for multiposting but edit time is only 30 min.

stikk April 11th, 2007 02:04 AM

Re: Project Zero

Check the PK3 files for the custom huds. Edit the files within and save it again.

Ryo Thorn April 11th, 2007 10:38 PM

Re: Project Zero

someone asked for a shader? DELIVERY. Okay a bit lame. But still.

The basic code is:

models/weapons2/Saber_z-saber/saber_wb
{
q3map_surfacelight 1
surfaceparm nonopaque
{
map models/weapons2/saber_z-saber/saber_wb.tga
blendFunc GL_ZERO GL_SRC_COLOR
tcMod scroll 0 1.5
}
}

Really simple, that makes it transparent and scroll rather fast. It behaves how I like ingame, so I'm happy with it. You can control the ammount of transparancy yourself by how much alpha you put in the TGA. I'll start on that boomarang shield tomorrow. I can make things spin around too, so it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Black Hawk 86 April 11th, 2007 11:06 PM

Re: Project Zero

That's great, how about glowing?

what do you think are those blades long enough now or too long? I think that triple rod might be just a little too long and I'll have to mess a bit with chainrods sab file it does way too much damage (8 blades to make trail look nice)

I forgot to take screenies again so everyone could see those longer weapons but I'll take them for tomorrow

I also started making new menus but haven't even tried making new hud so

I still want pictures of those melee weapons so if anyone has or knows where to find please tell me

Ryo Thorn April 12th, 2007 03:22 PM

Re: Project Zero

As far as I can tell the weapon blade lengths are just fine. The glowing I'm still working on, I'm not entirely sure how to do it yet. Something about a glowmap from what I can remember. I tried surface light and that did nothing at all really.

Black Hawk 86 April 12th, 2007 11:31 PM

Re: Project Zero

thanks about those shaders they worked perfectly I added them in every weapons and made new one leviathans spear from mmz (earlier was from zx) so here is pictures of those weapons with shaders thank you again Ryo Thorn (you got yourself in readme) I'll make that soul reaver for you so it's equal trade (I've been watching anime) but those pics. Here they are:

Spoiler:

First we have phantom claws (in game goes only by name phantom)
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...20zero/ph2.jpg

Spoiler:
and finally Leviathan (with ref. pic)
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...20zero/lev.jpg
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...0zero/lev2.jpg
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...iathanewew.jpg
I know that other leviathan needs some texture editing (Those stripes are there they are just too light so It's hard to see them)

About that glowing thing I think it has something to do with alpha channel and that so there actually should also be that .tga file I tried to make it glow yesterday but it didn't work

Black Hawk 86 April 13th, 2007 03:40 AM

Re: Project Zero

this is directly from shader tutorial

models/players/visor/ase
\\ This is the shaders name - it is the same as the path to the texture it is assigned to
{
\\ { brackets represent the start and end of the shader - indented { brackets represent each stage.
{
map models/players/visor/aze_g.tga
\\ This is the glowing effects image, the lowest stage in the shader.
rgbGen identity
\\ This command tells the engine to ignore lighting effects on this stage - making it "glow"
}
{
map models/players/visor/aze.tga
\\ This is the upper stage or the shader - the actual skin.
blendfunc blend
\\ This sets the blending mode to use the transparency of the alpha map.
rgbGen lightingDiffuse
\\ This tells the engine to use lighting effects on this layer.
}
}

I'll try using that and there are few weapons that has sort of a "gem" in them
it would look awesome if they would kinda pulse that light they are colored to
So there is another thing to chew

Ryo Thorn April 13th, 2007 02:09 PM

Re: Project Zero

Ah sure, no problem. It was actually really easy, I just had to get off my ass to do it. That's the problem with everything these days. Also, as far as I know that shader component won't emit light, only look as if it were having light shined on it. I could be mistaken though. Also, you know a chrome\specular shader on the handles\rods would be stunningly amazingly awesomely devilishly cool. They look more or less like plastic right now.

Claud April 13th, 2007 02:13 PM

Re: Project Zero

Nice Job :D look neat

Black Hawk 86 April 15th, 2007 11:24 PM

Re: Project Zero

You'r right they'd look cool and you were right about that shader too it didn't look good actually it seemed to me that it didn't do anything so could you post me what you have manage to do this far

I started on soul reaver but I still don't have permission to use that other (that cloud_guy made) I also need hand/arm to make that circling thingy in raziels arm. at this point it actually looks like sh*t so I have to adjust it little

Black Hawk 86 April 16th, 2007 04:32 AM

Re: Project Zero

Okay after little search I managed to find more weapons in zx series there is actually two z-saber one for z-form and other for zx-form here is picture

and here is other weapon(s) I found
Spoiler:
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ero/zxprom.jpg
could someone tell me what the heck is that staff like thing (not the scythe)

and finally those zero series guardian weapons

So I'll make these too.

It seems that this is going to be one big weapons pack with (hopefully) characters to wield these weapons (and custom hud + Menus)

I'll probably take a small "vacation" from this project after I get full shaders from ryo thorn but before that "vacation" I'll send 3 weapons to filefront
so I'll let this community to deside which three

Ryo Thorn April 16th, 2007 04:48 AM

Re: Project Zero

Welp, first off. Zero took his helmet off? What madness is this? He's just not zero without his gaudy looking helmet! Second, still don't know how to make it glow yet. If *anyone* does know, *please* just tell us.

Black Hawk 86 April 16th, 2007 05:13 AM

Re: Project Zero

It's model-z from zx series and it's actually vent or aile :D

Black Hawk 86 April 16th, 2007 11:07 AM

Re: Project Zero

I sent PM to Inyri about shaders and she helped us happily So
here is one shader from our very own Lady Forge (thank you again)

"You basically need your normal texture, and a texture with only the glow on it, in the proper place. Use the shader below to make it glow.

your_texture_path
{
{
map your_texture_path
blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ZERO
rgbGen lightingDiffuse
}
{
map your_glow_texture_path
blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ONE
glow
}
}
"
Lets hope this is the one we have been searching

Black Hawk 86 April 17th, 2007 04:05 AM

Re: Project Zero

I've found more shaders: Chrome and pulsing so after I try them and they work (hopefully) weapons are ready YAY

Ryo Thorn April 17th, 2007 06:10 AM

Re: Project Zero

HAH, good! Very good! As long as you don't put the chrome on the blade. That'd just be funky.

Black Hawk 86 April 19th, 2007 09:25 PM

Re: Project Zero

I managed to make shader that pulses, glows, is transparent and moves if I get that pulsing out of it then it's ready (I just added together what I had)

Anything new about that boomerang shader?

Black Hawk 86 April 20th, 2007 12:25 AM

I started reading mmz manga and found out more weapons

Actually, His name is Giro (Giruette in the japanese i think). That is model Z, and you never get to use it alone. Vent and Aile get to use it in tandom with Model X [/fanboy]

I got it half right :D I haven't played zx series 'couse I don't have nds so all I know about it is from reviews.

I'm going to name them like z-saber, zx-saber, leviathan-z, leviathan-zx, so that should do the trick but for manga I don't know yet how to name them maybe just different color

Shaders are ready completely (except shield boomerang)

Ryo Thorn April 23rd, 2007 06:54 AM

Re: Project Zero

Oh right, sheild boomerang. Let me check on how to make a swirling shader for you real quick, be back in a few.

edit:
okay fun, just slip:
tcMod rotate 200

in to the code for the spinny factor. I could do other flickering effects and stuff, but it really looks good just like that.

does it matter which part of code I put this? in that part that defines movement?

Hello.
looks very interesting project.when do you release it?

By the way, I tried making rockman zero.
ttp://img132.imageshack.us/img132/2521/zeropg0.jpg
well,I have never exported for JKA...('A`)
but I will try it.

Please forgive my poor english.

Re: Project Zero

I'll release it when its ready (actually I released few weapons from it should be available for dl tomorrow but I can't tell for sure)
and your zero looks pretty accurate to me (hair and everything) do you have wireframe pics?

oh and you're welcome to help :D so if you want to make models for this (guardians, X etc.)

hainu April 25th, 2007 06:45 AM

Re: Project Zero

oh really. I'll wait obediently.
and,here is wireframe picture.
ttp://img156.imageshack.us/img156/2259/zero1gj3.jpg

if I completed this model,(or harpuia,Leviathan,X,etc)I'll upload to filefront.
please use it freely if necessary:)

Ryo Thorn April 25th, 2007 08:02 AM

Re: Project Zero

Hey, that's really good! I really like that! Not bad at all hainu. I must say you caught me off guard with that. Hell, besides the skinning it's beter than the model we're working on I'd say. Hm.. as for making anyone else my vote would be for Harpuia, always been fond of that one.

KitsuFox April 25th, 2007 12:37 PM

Re: Project Zero

Yes, that model is excellent. Could I have a look at the textures, work on CTF Skins and the rest of Zero's GBA colors?

That would be partly 'couse this one has hair and this one is actual zero
other had/has few features from zx series (helmet) but I agree this looks damn good to me (can't wait it to be released :D seems like we all have something to wait)

Hainu I think it would look great if that forehead gem would pulse but I think that's what you though too (I mean In-game) I have shaders for that if you need

Project zero mini pack hasn't uploaded yet to filefront but it'll be there when they review it so when that happens I'd like constructive critic so I could make better ones (I believe that most editing would go to shaders) It has ZX-saber, Omega-ZX, Leviathans spear (ZX) and Harpuias Blades (ZX)

hainu April 26th, 2007 02:51 AM

Re: Project Zero

>my vote would be for Harpuia
ok,I'm making Leviathan now. I'll try harpuia next.

>Could I have a look at the textures
eee,It is very shameful for me.sorry><
>CTF Skins
hmm,I didn't think about that.
I'd like to make another color after all.

>forehead gem would pulse
Yes, I also think so.but I'm really bad at drawing textures.
>I have shaders for that if you need
thank you:) I'll rely on if necessary.

Black Hawk 86 April 26th, 2007 03:30 AM

Re: Project Zero

I can make that pulse texture for you I just need your textures for head where that gem is

also do you know how to weigh your model and put it in game if not there are great tutorials for it in sticky I don't have programs to weigh it so I can't do it

Zeros CTF Skins and others are simple to do just recolor them with painting program. Paint shop pro 9 works perfectly for that and many other programs also (I don't know how others work) for Team support well blue for blue (X Form) and Omega zero for red it's that simple

In mmz2 there are many other colors as well: green, gray, purple etc. if I remember correctly every color represented "new" skill like green was Higher defence and purple was higher atk. power
