Re: Hoverboard? is filesize really THAT much of an issue these days? I mean even a meg or two really doesn't take that long to download, about 20 seconds for me, maybe 5 mins for people with dialup, I'd wait half an hour for the download to go for the support.. but that's just me. |

The reason you see no textures is because the way the customskin section of the VEH for "swoop" is set up is an unrecognized format for MP. Therefor whenever you spawn "swoop" you'll see no texture. This is why swoop_mp exists, otherwise they'd have no reason for it. There's absolutely no reason I can think of to overwrite swoop_mp, though. The only reason I'm overwriting the regular swoop is for SP. Otherwise the hoverboard is spawnable as its own vehicle (check the NPC file for those of you who have it and you'll see what I mean). Whatever. The point is, people on dial-up have no business playing multiplayer, so shouldn't download the MP version. Unless they are playing solo or LAN or something... bah. Re: Hoverboard? FYI, the only difference between "SP" and "MP" for swoops is a .VEH file. My MP .VEH file is 23kb... I can cut that out for dial-up users though! :p Most of the filesize comes from the skins, which are for SP and MP. |

Re: Hoverboard? You skin looks great plasma. Although I have one suggestion... On the side of the board, that whole strip does a wraparound. So, if the case of alternating textures like you have, you are going to want it to be one color on one end and the other color on the other end. It would make it look a little better in game. As for the filesize, maybe release the vehicle, and then a skin pack for all of the ones people have sent in. |
Re: Hoverboard? Plasma's board DOES look exelent. Far better than mine if I do say so myself. Also I don't have any stance mods or animation mods of any sort in place except for JK+, which most people have, so that could be a problem on down the road. I'll try moving it out so I can test it properly though. Also I'd have no problems what so ever having my skin being 'optional' and sperate so it won't run up the veh count so much, I'd rather have playability without excessive pk3 removal. After thinking about it my one winged jetpack mod has an animation change with it, however the irony is I'm not even using it right now... Right, off to check that. |

Re: Hoverboard? Let me say it once. This mod is not supposed to be the BTTF hoverboard. The model is not shaped properly to be the BTTF hoverboard. Anyone who wants a BTTF hoverboard will have to make their own. Hopefully no one will make me repeat myself on that. |

I have no useful updates, but after testing it a bit more (Still haven't fixed that animation thing yet, working on it) to all the skinners out there, don't worry too horribly much about the bottom, yes it's visible, yes it counts to make it look good, but tearing your hair out to get cool glow effects and so forth really don't matter, you can't see the bottom THAT often anyway. That's my take on it. |

Re: Hoverboard? Hey Inyri, just a small question, I tried to do a hoverboard too like about 2 years ago but I couldn't change the animation of the rider, I didn't know how and I thought this wasn't possible, can you tell me where I was wrong? You've done a great job there :) |

Re: Hoverboard? Inyri I have to say that everything looks great. When you first came forward with the idea, I thought it'd have too many problems to actually work. I sure was proved wrong. Its mods like this that keep me interested in this game. Im also excited to see all the awesome skins. The ones posted on here all look so great. I've never used a vehicle in JA, but when this is released, Im definately going to give it a go. Just a few questions: How is the "combat" while using a hoverboard? I want to be able to zip around while swinging at some friends. Also, if there is a way to modify how fast it turns (I know nothing about vehicles) are you going to change it? I'd imagine people on hoverboards will eventually be skillful enough to turn on a dime. |
Re: Hoverboard? Well, the good news is you can hit things. The bad news is the range is pretty poor. It's not really any worse than while on a swoop, though. As for turning radius, I'm not sure. It handles pretty insanely as it is, though, but I'll look into it before release. Really though, guys, this is the last call for skins, so if anyone has a last-minute entree please get it finished this weekend. And do me a favor and let me know you're working on it, so I know not to release without it. |

Re: Hoverboard? I thought I said you *had* to have the main file to use the extras. If it says otherwise, it's a typo. It should be really easy to see how it works from the PK3, though. |
