Loading Bar Transparency Hiya, I'm working on a loading bar for JKA (amongst other things), and I've noticed that when you just drop the file into a pk3 file, it's transparent against the snapshot screen. IE, it looks good against something with a black strip at the bottom (SithJ's maps for example), and not so hot when you're loading the Bespin duel map. Is this an easy thing to modify? Ideally I'd like no transparency. Cheers in advance, B :) |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency Edit the images it uses and make no transparency. |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency save it as a jpg ;) |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency Cheers for the replies :) Trouble is, it's already a jpg and there isn't any transparency applied. I've got a screenie of what happens... http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/9...ingbars7ig.jpg The first image is the file mp_levelload.jpg as viewed normally, in Windows. The second image is in-game, loading Sith-J-Cull's Palpatine's Office duel map. You can see his name overlaying the image, but other than that, the black background seems to make it look good. The third image is from the Bespin Courtyard duel map loading screen, the image is slightly fainter because the background isn't pure black. The fourth image is from the Hoth Canyon map loading screen. The transparency is far more pronounced now due to the background. I'm not sure if it's the loading bar being laid transparently over the snapshot or vice versa. Anyone experienced this problem before, and is there a way around it? Thanks for listening (well, reading :p ) B. |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency I think this is a shader thing, Find the shader(if any) that has this in it, and play with it. |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency Hmm, as a comlpete n00b to modding of any kind, that's gone right over my head I'm afraid :p I've heard of shaders of course, and I know the kind of thing they do, But even finding the shader that would apply to the image is way above my level, let alone modifying it ;) Cheers for your input though, it is appreciated! Looking at loading bars other people have made, they all suffer from the same problem, so it may just have to stay like that. Cheers, B. >edited because it's to early for me to type properly :p < |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency The shader will be found in assets1, shaders folder. You open them with notepad (first extract them to your desktop, never modify the assets directly.) When you open them, press ctrl+f and search for the loading bars file name. Be smart. Like, this problay isint in the Vjun or Rift shader. |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency bobaandy, I owe you a biscuit. Or a pint, if you prefer. Got it sorted :D Turns out it was in assets1.pk3\shaders\gfx.shader A snip of the line blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ONE and it works like a charm. Cheers muchly! I'm not sure if putting this modified shader file in the pk3 will conflict with other ones that feature modified shaders, but hey - one way to find out right? Thanks once again bobaandy, you are the man! [/very chuffed] B. :) |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency Your welcome! Looking forward to seeing your mod. |
Re: Loading Bar Transparency And here it is; http://jediknight2.filefront.com/fil...tup_Pack;65056 Only submitted it a few hours ago, good work chaps! B. |
