Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

Wel I got bored of the old vehicles so I was wondering if someone would like to make the Legendary Sun Crusher:

I dont want the model as much as the effects :) those explosions would be sweet.

It would be absolutely useless. What's the point of having it?

they are fun to toy with and this one is quite handy in space battles.
He might be big but he has supreme armor and weaponary.

The suncrusher is not a starfighter and it was never meant to me. It has minimal weaponry and can not be destroyed: can you say "balance issues"?

But then again, are the imperials known for aesthetics?

Balance would be a major issue.

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

minimal weaponry and very powerful shields works sometimes
if u can stay alive long enough to shoot down ur enemy

it's weapons do very little but it stays alive long enough to do dignificant damage

I dont knwo what it's from either

I could model it for you, if someone else can texture it etc.

It doesn't have shields. Why should it? Its hull is indestructible -- it doesn't need shields.

A book series by Kevin J. Anderson.

Balance issues?

Being able to use that thing in a space battle with stats accurate to the original, would probably be equivalent to the counter-terrorist team in CounterStrike having a Bruce Willis NPC to help them out.

The game wouldn't be unbalanced - this thing would erase the entire concept of balance.

Just out of curiosity - why does that thing need repulsorlift vents? It's repulsive enough without them. Doesn't look like it's very useful either.

I seriously doubt any of the existing flight maps, with the possible exception of Battle Over Coruscant, have enough room for you to manuever such a clunky vehicle, doubly so when you consider the shortcomings of JKA's flight system.

...
Wow, aren't I just a nexus of positivity today? :uhm:

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

The only starfighter "tactic" I've ever heard being used with this thing was scaring the crap out of Leonia Tavira by threatening to ram it throught the bridge of her Star Destroyer in I, Jedi

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

How about making it a map instead. If someone makes the Sun Crusher a vehicle, then someone will make the Death Star or a Star Destroyer also. That would be retarded.Imagine the Death Star in a dog fight.

Mikouen May 22nd, 2006 09:48 AM

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

Imagining a Death Star vehicle in this game at all is impossible.

JKA just can't handle a vehicle model of that size, and even if it could, how do you intend to fly it anywhere? - The game has a max grid size of 65535x65535x65535 for maps, and as far as I'm aware a realistically-scaled Death Star would take up the entire grid itself.

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

well what if the player scale was set really small? just a thought it would be all a matter of miniture scale, but i don't think thats possible

Mikouen May 22nd, 2006 10:43 AM

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

You'd need to have every single JKA skin/model that exists in the modelscale.cfg file, and you'd need them set to 0.000000000000000000001%, which is impossible since there's actually a minimum limit on how small you can make them - and that limit is about 0.65 or something.

Darth Zion May 22nd, 2006 10:46 AM

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

you could just make a small deathstar just for fun :P

You could simply reskin a sentry and remove the guns...

Bluestormtrooper May 23rd, 2006 02:16 PM

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

Then scale it a bit larger, yeah that could work.

Re: Vehicle Request!: Sun crusher

Some things to consider...
The suncrusher was not a starfighter, it was a superweapon, although it has little dinky laser cannons for defense, they wouldn't do much good in a dogfight.
Another, it may look ugly, but it sure wasn't designed to look pretty, it looks the way it does because of its function.
Also, it wouldn't be that unbalanced, the suncrushers resonance torpedo's only cause major damage to stars, shoot anything else and it wouldn't have much of an effect, remember the prototype death star? did the torpedo's destroy it? no, they didn't, they are designed to take out stars.
