What are you trying to do?
Click me. Read that, it has a link to another thread listing Mod tools and tutorials. If you need any help, just ask, but don't make a thread for every question...

Skins are easy. You need a program to edit image files, I use photoshop CS, a program to edit text files, text edit, or whatever you have on windows. Personally I use JA Kit but thats mac only. And finally, something to make .pk3 files. I turn them into .zip files, then rename .zip to .pk3 , but again, may be a diiferent program on windows. Theres a folder path you need: models/players/yourskinname. un zip the assets 1 file in the base folder, go to models/player and choose a model folder. Copy this into you own models/players/yourskinname area, and change the name. For instance, if you choose jedi, you change the folder name from jedi to yourskinname (or whatever you want to call it, this is an example) so now you have: models/players/yourskinname and in there you should have image files, a model file an 3 .skin files. Edit the images, then open the default.skin file. In there, there are file directories, linking images to model parts. Theres the body part, a file directory ending in the image name. In the file directory, look for (example) model/players/luke/ and change luke to yourskinname. Turn the models folder into a .pk3 file, put it in the base folder and you're away! Remember, skin folder name cannot contain spaces, but other than that you can use any name you choose. If you choose the name of an exiting skin, for instance change yourskinname to kyle, ingame, kyle will be replaced with you skin.

Look at the link I posted. The Gimp is a free image program. Gmax is for modelling guns and such. You'll also need the SDK.

Software Development Kit.

Most companies don't release them, but Raven released the JKA SDK a while ago.

You can find it on JKFiles by searching for the keyword SDK. Just make sure you search Jedi Academy, not Jedi Oucast...
