Re: What tutorials do you guys want? tutorials? how about a playermodel weighing tutorial? twood be fabulous. |
Re: What tutorials do you guys want? That would be great :giggle: Ben Mathis has a great one, but it uses the physique modifyer, and I'm not sure if you can use that with JK3 weighting. Gir...? |

I plan on making a fairly in-depth weighting tutorial, either separate or apart of a larger character tutorial series. It will probably be my next project after I finish up weighting Anakin. It'd have some basic concept information... the how's, the why's... then show some different joint types and weighting methods. Then it'd go into the main part that would include a complete weighting of a character, including face, hands, and LOD's. I'd also throw in my animated skeleton as part of the tutorial's release. I've already given it to a couple of people to help with their weighting, and it seems to make things easier. That's the plan, anyway. ;) |
Re: What tutorials do you guys want? And that, my friend. Would rock. I've been needing a weighting tutorial, but hopefully, it'll hold fundamental instructions that'll be compadible in Mod tools :P. |
Re: What tutorials do you guys want? I too would love some good tuts for XSI Mod Tools. I got it a while ago, but when I fired it up I panicked and never touched it again... :uhm: Also, I made a vehicle that I'd like to get working in-game, but I haven't the faintest clue how to do that, so like others have said, a good vehicle tutorial would be prime right about now. |

With that way of "teaching" it, you should be able to apply the knowledge to most programs that allow vertex weighting based on bone percentages (which should be most of them). I've seen the Mathis video for rigging with Physique, and it's pretty good. I personally like working strictly on a vertex level without envelopes (in the skin modifier, of course). In that video he weights a pretty basic model in an hour's time using Physique, and I could have done the same using Skin. There are a few ideas that I want to cover that some people aren't sure about, ideas not often in such tutorials. One is what to do with a large part with too few bones. Simple solution, but some don't think about it. Other things like that... I'd also probably go into my own methods for cloaks and robes. It's easier with physics or special bones, but you don't always have such luck. ;) Anyway, in the meantime... if you guys have any weighting questions, feel free to go to the Void and ask me. If it's for me specifically, can ask in the "Blade's Edge" forum. I mention it as I am there more often, so am more likely to see your question, and sooner as well. I usually only visit this board once or twice a week, and often at just a casual glance. |
Re: What tutorials do you guys want? If I have specific rigging questions I'll make sure ask. I do love all your work ;) However first I need to resolve my polyflow a bit... |
Re: What tutorials do you guys want? I just wanna learn to make charater models cause I am a visionary like say alucard from catlevania some wwe chars and so on |
