Two-Face WIP, need feedback

1 Attachment(s)
Seeing how I'm a big fan of Batman, and how Two-Face is my favourite villain, I thought I'd make a skin of him, based on the Indiana Jones model. Anyhoo, I've been working on this one on and off for a few days now, and have gotten pretty far on it. The clothes are made from scratch, save the shoes (which I thought were unnecessary to remake, so I just edited the default shoes). I'm not that good at making fabric though, so the clothes are not as good as they could be.

The face is just the model's default face, with the other side scarred. I did try to make a face from scratch, but failed miserably, as I'm terrible at skinning flesh.

I'm almost done with it, but I'd like to know what you all think of it so far. Comments? Critiques? Suggestions? Lay 'em on me.

The crotch looks a wee funky, and the collar needs to be fixed. I would've altered the face abit. Nice work though.

Some advice: Don't use Harrison Ford's face. That ruins the entire skin.

true that.

not to mention the hair is all wrong, harvey's dark hair was all spiked and incoherrant, and the white hair was matted down.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

To Haruki: I'll try and fix up the crotch (did that sound wrong?). About the collar, I haven't done it yet. I wanted to do the white/black scheme, but it uses mirrored textures, so I'm trying to figure out a way to work around it.

To Inyri: I agree wholeheartedly, but every attempt I made to give him a new face ended in disaster. So for now, he's gonna have to be played by Harrison Ford. That is, unless someone wants to make me a new face... http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../yeltongue.gif

To gir: I've always seen it done the other way around though, with the white hair all unkempt, and the black hair slicked down (at least that's how it was on all my reference pics).

Can't edit, so I'll have to make a new post.

I messed around with the legs texture a bit, and fixed the crotchal area, as suggested by Haruki. Looks better now methinks.

I'm going to try my best to give him a new face. But if nothing looks decent, I'll have to keep Mr. Ford's face... :uhm:

Looks much better :). Though, you may want to use harder brushes on those lines.

Glad you like. http://forums.filefront.com/images/smilies/smilie.gif I think you're right about the lines, looking at it again, they do look kinda blurred out.

On another note, I worked on the face for a few minutes and came up with this. Yeah, it sucks, but it was the best I could do... http://forums.filefront.com/images/s...28frown%29.gif

looks good! I don't remember TF's age, however I think harder lines and more definite wrinkles are in order for the face.

It always looked to me like he was in his late 30's-early 40's. Anyhoo, I made his wrinkles more pronounced and hardened the lines a bit, he looks a bit more "his age" now. :D

It's gettin' there ;)... Also, the where the hair divides and where the face divides, those locations don't match up. May want to check that out :D.

OK, I just tested it in-game, and it looks great, except for one huge problem. The hair's missing! The surface for the hair is gone, meaning that there's a huge gaping hole atop his head. The part in the .skin file for the hair reads:

head_hair_off,models/players/twoface/hair.tga

I was able to fix this in ModView by switching the surface to "on", but I don't know how to fix it in-game. I tried changing "head_hair_off" to "head_hair_on", but that didn't work. Can this be fixed? Did I miss something obvious?

Just delete the _off out of the .skin file.

Tried it, didn't work. It just said "Surface head_hair not found!" http://forums.filefront.com/images/s...28frown%29.gif

That's a nice looking skin you've made, keep up the good work!

I'm glad you like it! If it gets a good enough response, I might release it. http://forums.filefront.com/images/smilies/smilie.gif

post the .skin file and I'll see what I can find out. You may have to surf it on.

Ah. similar things occured when I tried to reskin boushh. Leia's head is filled black when the helmet is on, and I had to remove head_helmet_on in the .skin file.

Code:

hips_whip,*off
hips_holster_indy,*off
hips_cap_l_leg_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga

l_hand,models/players/twoface/basic_hand.tga
l_hand_cap_l_arm_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga

head,models/players/twoface/face.tga
head_fedora,*off
head_fedora_hair,models/players/twoface/hair.tga
head_hair,models/players/twoface/hair.tga
head_cap_torso_off,models/players/stormtrooper/caps.tga

Try that. If not, PM me the .pk3 and I'll get it working.
