What planet is that?

I was wondering if anyone know what planet is in "skies/ships".... not that it's really important... I'd just like to know....

Re: What planet is that?

Code:

textures/skies/ships
{
        qer_editorimage        textures/skies/sky
        surfaceparm        sky
        surfaceparm        noimpact
        surfaceparm        nomarks
        q3map_nolightmap
        skyParms        textures/skies/nebula2 512 -
}

The line in bold should give you the hint; it's one of the star/nebula skies.

Re: What planet is that?

Endor? Or Yavin 4?

Re: What planet is that?

I was thinking Yavin... but now that you mention Endor, i suppose it could be that, too...

Re: What planet is that?

Hoth has a nebula doesn't it??? If you play SW: Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader on the Gamecube it's in the second mission.

Re: What planet is that?

It's a sky in space. It's no damn planet.

Re: What planet is that?

Well, if it isn't a planet, then you just shot down our entire threda, didn't you?
Anyways, Hoth has a nebula and an asteroid belt, but they are a little far off.
But let's think of it this way. We first saw this skybox in Raven's JK2 Deathstar map. So, that must mean that it was looking at a planet, or Yavin 4. Or Endor. One of the two.

Re: What planet is that?

I've never played the single player, so i'm not sure when this sky was used (or how old it is)... but to say it's not a planet is silly... what else to you call a big colored sphere in space? I see the stars, the nebula, and a big ball that, according to gothix, is not a planet.... but if it's not a planet, then what is it? Nebulas aren't perfectly round, and the sars are little dots... maybe it's a funny looking ship, huh? :nodding:

Re: What planet is that?

This planet is called Imperial Star Destroyer!
You can see that sky on Byss SP mission or in a ISD siege

Re: What planet is that?

So.... there you have it.... "its not a planet"... and its called "Imperial Star Destroyer"...
For a Star Destroyer... that's some SERIOUS camouflage... From long a triangular ship to a clouded, blue and green sphere... what will those crazy imps think of next?

Re: What planet is that?

The planet is just a random bryce object Raven threw in, it's not meant to be an actual planet. They've used the sky in multiple maps, even JO ones.

Re: What planet is that?

-This is Venus! This is Jupiter! This is Endor!

Are you crazy? It is just random space sky!

Joe_normal380 May 26th, 2004 12:55 PM

Re: What planet is that?

ok.... see... now, just saying its a random planet makes much more sence than saying that its not a planet at all.:p So... how about, until Mr. Lucas says otherwise, this planet shall hensforth be know as "a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse"?

.... I got the petition right here :deal: .... what do ya say?
lol...

Re: What planet is that?

I say you're not funny.

Joe_normal380 May 26th, 2004 01:17 PM

Re: What planet is that?

:( awww... fine... its just a bunch of pixels thrown together to resemble any given "planet that may, or may not, be located near a nebula...

Joe_normal380 May 26th, 2004 01:58 PM

Re: What planet is that?

...there is a planet.. in the DISTANCE.. in the SKY... if you were standing on a rock model, in the middle of a skybox with the skies/ship texture, it would look like you were floating in space... and out in that "space" is a bunch of stars, and some nebula-style stuff, and A BIG, ROUND, CLOUDY, BLUE AND GREEN SPHERE.... if that's not a planet... then the pope doesn't wear a funny hat...

besides.... I don't know why you're all worked up... I was just wondering what planet I would be looking at if I was in that "space"...

Re: What planet is that?

Lets call it Yavin just for kicks.

And MeusH~are you sure you're looking at the right skybox? Its the same one used in KOTOR Flight School. There is a large planet for one part of the shader.

Re: What planet is that?

Yeah, I just see those jpgs. There is some gray planet, but who cares what planet is that?

Re: What planet is that?
