Alpha Channels I don't know what you guys know about coding but I'm curious about alpha channels- I want to know how to make a texture with an alpha channel but don't know how- the real question: how does one put alpha channels in a texture so shaders can be applied? TK~ |
Re: Alpha Channels anyone? |
Re: Alpha Channels wuts an alpha channel??? |
Re: Alpha Channels Hmm. Let's analyze this logically. Alpha means first, so first channel. Logically, there must therefore be several channels, and the alpha channel is the first of many. |
Re: Alpha Channels let's put it this way- an alpha channel is a codeing for an image that allows shaders to show through an image- for example there are alpha channels for all the "color change" things in your player choice for jaden. the alpha channels are what allows the color shader to be applied on spicific area of the skin image- does that clarify? I'm hopeing that's right- |
Re: Alpha Channels Ya, there's normally 3 different channels in a digital picture: Red, Green, and Blue (I think). (Channels are like different layers of a picture, each one using only 1 color in different shades, and when put together they make the picture.) The alpha channel is another channel that holds a black/white representation of the picture. If you set up the shader the right way, the whiter areas will be more visible than the darker areas, and totally black areas are invisible. I know the code and everything, but I still haven't been able to get Photoshop to save an alpha channel in a Targa (.tga) format... it just doesn't work. Maybe my version's outdated... it's 1.7. |
Re: Alpha Channels 1.7! wow I got 7.0 what's the code because I would like to try- I want my shader to show through an image- and I don't know how to do that. |
Re: Alpha Channels oops... typo! LOL! I've got 7.0. :o I'm looking for the code right now. |
Re: Alpha Channels I got it! Okay, here's the link, because it won't come out right in these forums: http://planetquake.com/qworkshop3/tu...nel/index.html The code is in there somewhere. |
