File Sizes I am a skinner for JKA but I would like to know how to make my skins smaller files. could anyone give me some tips here? WinZip at full compression doesn't even help- at least for me. Thanks TK |
Re: File Sizes you know I'm pretty sure someone could help me with this-- it seems simple |
Re: File Sizes Use PNG, or JPEG with a higher compression setting...but if you increase the compression setting in JPEG you'll loose detail. How big are they now? Unless they're huge I don't really see a problem. |
Re: File Sizes Well i'm getting like 2 megs for a regular skin- seems alot for me. |
Re: File Sizes 2 megs is fine. So it's not kilobytes...it's hardly a problem. One thing you can do I just realised is check the dimensions of your textures. If they're 1024x1024 change them to 512x512...if they're 512x512 try scaling to 256x256...but that last one will usually cut out the detail too much. |
Re: File Sizes If you have Photoshop 6 or newest, you should have an option "save for web". There, you can save BIG files as very small WITHOUT loosing quality (so much). If you don't want to loose quality, use "save for web" and have 1 MB skin! Of course, work at bigger, better files. Save them using "save for web" ONLY at END of JOB :p |
