| For best results when using the Clan Forum, you should read through here and get tips on how to handle yourself. Included in here are the rules, the essentials, and some useful hints for advertisers. ------------------------- Clan Forum Rules The same rules apply here as to the rest of GamingForums, but some extras are also in effect. - Don't spam threads! Clan advertisement threads will stay on the front page for quite a while, and members looking for clans will likely look back through the second page too, so there's no need to make threads on a regular basis. Once a month or so should be more than sufficient. - Don't bump threads! Bumping a thread consists of making a useless post with the intent of knocking your thread back up to the top of the list. After posting a thread, only post again with important updates and/or information changes. Alternately, you can contact a JK Series moderator for help, if you want your initial post changed after the 30 minute edit period. - Don't backseat moderate! The moderators can do their jobs just fine. - Absolutely NO "Email for details!" threads! Self-explanatory. This rule is implemented for legal reasons. Anything that occurs outside of these forums is beyond our jurisdiction, however if it is discovered that these forums were an outlet for the aforementioned events, FileFront could still be facing a lawsuit. Therefore, we do not allow "email xxxxx for further details!" threads. - Don't hold discussions on clan politics or any other such non-advertisement subjects! Debates are best left for the Rants & Raves forum. - Remember, this is a CLAN advertising forum! This forum was specifically set up for people to advertise for Jedi Knight Jedi Academy clans ONLY!. This means that adverts for community sites are not permitted. This includes "communities made up of clans". If you wish to advertise for any sort of non-clan site, you are no longer allowed to do this on FileFront since the removal of the Shameless Advertiser forum. ------------------------- How to Advertise Your Clan There are a lot of clans out there, so getting members will be more than just a simple task. If you want the best chance of getting recruits for your clan, follow some simple guidelines on how to format a clan recruiting post. The Essentials: Your Name: Don't forget to tell people who you are. Mentioning your status within the clan can be a plus, especially if you are in a position of command. Your Clan's Name: Meaning full name, not just your acronym or tag. People tend to get irritated when they don't know what your initials stand for. Your Website/Forums: An essential way for potential recruits to get information about your clan. Your Server: Got a server? Posting the IP and some info on how it runs may be a good idea. Some Other Optional Information: Your Member Count: Having a lot of members can be a blessing or a curse. It's up to you whether or not to include this. Your Clan Type: Information on what kind of clan you are and/or what style of play you promote is a good way to attract like-minded gamers. Your Clan's History: Some people may want some background info. It's always nice to know who you're getting involved with. Just remember to be honest, or it could negatively affect your reputation. Your Rank System: Some clans have them, some don't. If you do, posting a quick summary may be a good idea. Your Allies and Enemies: Some clans partake in the "allies/enemies" concept. If you do, you may want to give some info about this. Tips for writing your post: - Use good grammar. It makes you look more mature and professional, which is what people may want to see. - Give a good "sales pitch". Remember, you're trying to convince people to join. - Be detailed. The more info you give people to work with, the better the chances you'll get the kind of player you're looking for. ------------------------- Last edited by Mikouen; July 16th, 2009 at 07:40 AM.. |
