Aight, ill try to explain this as best i can. Im trying to start mapping for JK2 (duh), and ive been following the tutorial @ http://richdiesal.jedioutcastmaps.com/tutorials/, now when i got to the part about cuttin corners off brushes, i save it, compile it, go ingame, load up the map, and it works. Ive got my small room with a ramp bridge thingy in it. Now, when Rich tells me to add entities, (The weaps and ammo), i do that, put em on the ramp thingy (for the sake of not confusing you, ill call it RAMP from now on), save it, compile it, and go ingame......its the same way it was before i tried to add the entities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So i say...ok....ill fix that later. Next Lesson: Lighting. Aight, so i follow the instructions, delete the big light in the middle of the room, and make spotlights.....and note that before, my one big light made the room excessively bright...so i just lived with it. I deleted that light, and, like i said, made spotlights. So i save it. Compile it. Go ingame. The same way. Nothing on RAMP, its just as bright, no spotlights, nothing......What am i doing WRONG????
Edit: I also tried Compiling, Saving THEN compiling it again.....no beans.

are you sure u saved the map as the same name? cause if you didn't maybe ur loading the wrong map file. And it also might be so bright cause of the extremely low file size. Just an idea, not to sure. Sorry if it wasn't much of a help.
What do you mean my people are unhappy!? Oh I will get them for that! Send them to the mines...
I think i know what i did wrong.....i think when you save it for the first time, then compile, and test, come back and edit it, your not supposed to save it again...perion. You just have to compile it again, and that applies changes.....but i still cant get my weapons to appear....and i made a new room, so its not so bright now. Its almost perfect.

I also cant figure out how to cut holes in the floor...i wanna make a bottomless pit!!!!!!
And damn.....Mapping is teh confusing ;P
Many people have this problem that the maps don't update properly. And i say the same thing to all of them - USE GTKRADIANT AND THE OTHER COMPILER.
As for cutting a hole in the floor, it's simple. Select your floor brush and then select the clipper tool. Make a cut for the first side of the square hole (if it's square, adapt if not) but press shift+enter when you want to cut it, not just enter. Then you'll keep both sides of the brush. Do this for the other sides of the square, and now you should have 9 brushes instead of 1 encompassing a square. Delete the middle brush and you're sorted. Just a note, where all the brushes meet remember to caulk to improve fps.

GtkRadiant is another mapping tool designed for the Q3 engine. But instead of just working for jk2 it works for nearly all Q3 based games. It is generally accepted to be better built since it was designed for the community rather than for the game developers. Don't worry - it's as simple and easy to use as jk2 radiant, and your map will transfer across to GTK easily. The 'other compiler' is just that. It's a different compiling program. Jk2Radiant uses the SOF2 compiler, but GTK also comes with a different compiling program. What can I say apart from that? It's just more powerful and returns less errors. It also helps you find problems in your map.
I'm afraid I don't know the link to gtk radiant, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
