Exclamation compile times

hi,

Im using JK2 Radiant (latest).
I made a map some time ago and the .bsp file was 7.8Mb and a compile time of 15 mins.
I just basically doubled the map in size and now i have a 2.6Mb .bsp file and a compile time of around 2 mins. I then test the map and it is the same as the first.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what is going on as my map is due for release within days.

Thankyou

After you compile do you see a thick red line going through your map? If so that means you have a leak. Fix the leak so that the whole map isn't drawn, only the parts in view.

If you made brushes that should be detail into detail brushes, and you hadn't before, you'd notice a big difference in compile time and bsp size.

Another possible reason is that you chose different compile options.

Umm ok,

I have had leaks before but ignored them in my first map. Because i tested it and didnt see anything affected by the leaks.
I havent made a single brush into detail brushes either. whether in first or second.
I have always used fullvis as the compile option.
I will try and fix the leaks and see what happens.
ALSO, i have a .pk3 in my base folder with the first version of my map in it. I have not put the second version in this pk3. Would jk2 be reading from the pk3 instead of the .bsp in the maps folder?

The map you are testing is most likely the map from your pk3, which is why it doesnt seem to be changing
Remove the pk3 from your base file to see what your latest map version looks like

Yeh, i found out that was it. JK2 goes straight to the pk3 rather than base\maps folder
