Okay.
We'll make a skin called myskin for this tutorial(Nice name uh?)
Okay, first we'll open up the model we want to skin(we'll use luke for refrence.)
Open up the file(in this case the assets0.pk3)that has the model you want to skin.
Browse to models/players/luke
Extract the luke folder
First let do renaming. we rename the luke folder to myskin then we edit the model_default.skin in the luke folder with notepad, rename everywhere you see luke to myskin.
Then do your .jpg editing with your paint program.
Create two new folders, one called models and one in the called players then move myskin folder to players.
So the directory should look like:
models/players/myskin
Save the file as a .pk3 if you have pakscape
If not save it as a .zip and rename it to a .pk3
Put it in your base and it should work.

(of course you would rename myskin to whatever you want it called.)
