[Help] Game freezes when connecting to online

I'm not quite sure what I've changed since I last played a few weeks ago, but my game now totally freezes (in the process taking over my screen... Yay for poor fullscreen handling!) and I have to use the task manager to kill it. I get to the point where the MOTD should show up, I see the number of players, games, etc, but before the MOTD (A bunch of chinese letters, unless it's changed) can load, the game freezes up entirely. Well, not entirely. The music keeps playing until it gets time to loop, then it stops.

Ahh yes. It is not your problem, but petroglyphs. Easy fix to it as well. Someone recently uploaded a fix for it, though since nobody knows about it yet when you go online there is generally noone or very few.

I think they may be updating it for Steam, possibly adding some new features or enabling you to use your Steam ID to play.


Anyways, here it is. I think this thread should be a sticky so everyone thats having problems can see an easy fix for it, at least until they get the multiplayer working. Whoever the admins are, please consider this.

Found an easier fix on petroglyph forums. Just let it sit the first time, and it will work fine after that, but if you dont run as admin on vista it throws an exception.

What exactly does the fix do, and what exactly is causing it in the first place?

EDIT: I forgot to specify that I was using FOC.

EDIT 2: It seems to want me to go through all the waiting again every time I start it up. :/ Does the fix work for FOC?

Im not sure if it works for FoC as I do not have FoC installed right now. It works well for EaW though, you might as well try it.
