I really don't know what this is, but a few months ago when I tried opening up a model in the ALO Viewer, it was green and at the bottom in the status bar it said "failed to open source file: 3dsmax_fix.fxh". I tried uninstalling Empire at War and reinstalling, but it still says the same thing. I tried looking for it, but can't find it.
It's almost any model, except for most starships. I do know that it means it's missing something, which I think is a shader, but I've never seen it before. I think it happened after I installed Stargate Pegasus Cronicles.
Be careful you may end up with the same problem. I think it's cause it installs files in the root data folder instead of a mod folder. Also this problem doesn't appear ingame.
Good point that.
I was only about 1/4 of the way through downloading anyway (its a big download ain't it), so I'll switch to downloading the 'Manual' installation.
I imagine that involves copying all the files to the correct folders manually.
I've finished downloading the mod, and set it up in the mods folder, no issues so far. I didn't put anything in the root FOC folder, as I saw that there was a 'Shaders' folder inside of the mod's art folder.
The only way I can make any model go green is by turning on 'Debug Shadows' in the Viewer, and even then its not doing it to all of them.
When you uninstalled, did you check if there was anything left in the FOC folder?
Thats the only thing I can think of.
I don't know if I even had a shader folder before that. I have one now with all of Foc's shaders, but it still doesn't work.
I discovered that the error message is alot longer
This is it:
Unable to load effect RSkinBumpColorize.fx: An undetermined error occurred:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\Data\Art\Shaders\RSkinBumpColorize.fx(1 81,14): error X1507: failed to open source file: '3dsmax_fix.fxh'
That is definitely one of the stranger things I've seen; perhaps the numbers in the brackets would mean something to the guy that made the viewer, but I've got no idea.
